The scope and scale video seems interesting

The units dont look all that detailed. That being said you can have a shit ton of em on the screen at once.

What the RTS Genre needs is a Starcraft Sequel. Blizzard Rules and always created high quality products.

Anyone know if there is a specific reason blizzard isnt making a starcraft game?

i was sceptical about the game until i saw that ^ screenshot...wow.

at first i thought it looked too similar to EE2(Empire Earth 2) which was only a mildy entertaining game for a little while and the online was not that good, but that screenshot shows at least 2x as many units as you could get in EE2.

Hopefully the gameplay will be as good as that battle looks.

im much better at smaller scale tactics than i am the longterm strategy of a game....its always easiest just to build a shit load of units and overwhelm the enemy.

The scale of everything also impresses me. I like how infantry looks small comapred to the various other units. I appreciate the depth offered.

Also i hope you can zoom that far out so you don't have to scroll like hell with such big armies.

They found an even lower-quality, lower-effort piece-of-shit cashcow.

In case no one has mentioned it, I just want you to know that they have a SUBMARINE AIRCRAFT CARRIER.

One thing that's cool is you can zoom in and out freely, a lot like Homeworld.

If you zoom in all the way: http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/755/755287/img_3351945.html
And then you can zoom out a little: http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/755/755287/img_2897689.html
And then some more: http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/755/755287/img_2897688.html
And if you keep going: http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/755/755287/img_2897711.html

btw here is that submersible aircraft carrier (not a screenshot lol) http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/755/755287/img_2897695.html

I also heard the same guy is doing the soundtrack. Fans of TA will be glad to know that..

Uh I was under the impression that the success of starcraft was well founded.

I can see you arguing verses todays RTS's, but that game still has a strong following even after somewhere around 6-8 years.

You cant beat the diversity and difference of the races.

he probably couldnt counter a zerg rush.

his post wreaks of flat out piss poor taste in games, or just sheer ignorance of the field.

do you remember when starcraft came out? everybody was nuttin their draws over it because it was warcraft in spaaaaaaaace! it was also the era of FMV selling your game for you, which blizzard has always taken heavy advantage of. remember, that's how they hyped both starcraft and diablo 2?

i'm not going to call starcraft a bad tactical strategy game, but i'll be damned if the best players ever won a game with creativity and logistics rather than trial, error and rote memorization of micromanagement.

it should be noted that supreme commander is not heavy on momentary tactics. in the trailer there is no particular control being taken over any individual unit, and if you played TA you'll remember there was no reason to -- the units are smart enough to know how to navigate and fight. supreme commander is about war, not battle, and starcraft is simply not a similar game.

btw BEU: total annihilation also has a strong following since 1997. they rewrote it to use modern graphics cards; see the TA Spring project. and if you like diversity of races, try Rise of Legends, i'm enjoying it.

Starcraft was the best game ever for dorm play. The wars that would happen were ungodly.

The 5 hour game that involved 8 people that was won by me sacrificing every single unit i had to make a massive reaver drop during a confusion... ah... nothing like hearing someone down the hall go "WHAT THE FUCK. How am i out of miner... HOLY SHIT REAVERS... lots of reavers. HELP OH SHIT HELP!!!"

So how did resources work in TA? I never played, and in trying to find information about the mechanics of Supreme Commander I've discovered that they haven't released that information. I'd think it would be similiar but not 100% identical.

starcraft game.......i dont see how a game involving humans could last that long. either everyone was REALLY good or kinda sucked. most likely the latter.
