Okay, I'm breaking one of tww rules. I'm double posting. As expected, chit chat wasn't much help, but I posted there first since this isn't totally sports-talk worthy ......

Is there anywhere around here to practice pitching and get it clocked? There's that hall of fame place for a $20 day pass, which would be cool if I was going to spend all day, but I'm thinking more like 15 minutes just to see what I can do.

What is this "hall of fame" place you speak about? I'm looking for a place with batting cages and $20/day would be perfect if they have it.

yeah, just go to Grand slam and choose the softball when you stick your token in. Then, just let the balls come and throw em back

hall of fame is on Maynard headed toward High House ... from campus take Walnut to Kildaire, left on Kildaire, right on Maynard - it's near some railroad tracks ... I didn't know they had all that stuff until I called them tonight. Dude said they do day passes. You can come and go, and do whatever. They've got a website (that's how I found out all that stuff )

yeah, need radar - need to clock myself - it's for an amateur thing this weekend, but the rule is if you can't do at least 55mph you won't get in, so I'm trying to make an ass of myself semi-anonymously; I'm sure I need batting practice too but not as bad as pitching

just stand on the side of two-lane highway

if the cars are going faster than your pitches you'll know you're under 55

I've pitched since I could walk. I'm nearly 25 now, and I've never been clocked. I'm very curious to see how hard I can throw.

nah, i think now it's just basketball courts with like padding instead of wood as a court, it's weak

FYI ross, I am a girl - I used to play rugby, which doesn't really involve much throwing, but this weekend's event isn't a rugby contest

it's probably too late now, but you could have went by ncsu athletics. I almost walked on the ncsu softball team, (other obligations kept me from doing so) and they have radar equipment because they clocked my pitching (I got 70mph w00t w00t...yeah...). If you coulda talked to someone nice over there, they may have been willing to clock you.
