dropping missiles, blockading ports, retaliations, sounds like it is a war.

that area of the world really sucks and has a lot of terrorists and oil which dont mix good

kill more of the terrorists = less terrorists to fuck it up for everyone else

to me the attacks seem more likely to fuel terrorist preferences of using violence as a way to express themselves, versus a hypothetically more stable region, which could ultimately provide a lot of people the means the find non-violent ways to express their dissatisfaction.

1. this isn't "new". shit's been going on all fucking morning.
2. josh. think, man. think. this shit isn't going to magically stay within those countries' borders. this affects the whole world. just one, immediate example is that the dow was down 103+ points around 10:30am. i'm sure it's worse now. fucking gas prices are going to climb some more. this is just the start.

^^it's probably just the increase in probability that a bad thing in general will happen to the world in general. the worst state the world is in overall, the more likely that something bad happens to us right? (all other things kept equal)

The last excuse for inflated prices at the pump...

North Korea fires a few rockets into the ocean. So yeah, any sparklers go off in the Middle East and gas will go up.

i am on the side of the people defending their country

in this case lebanon

the palastine/israel thing was one thing, this is totally different

Without getting into much detail about the oil situation, there is no reason for this to make oil prices ridiculous

they will stay stable

well at what point will people draw a line between terrorists and guerillas?

i'm getting to that point where it seems like nothing will ever be good enough to satisfy these "defenders" that kill innocent people on a regular basis

wtf are you talking about

israel hit lebanon with missles

hezbollah responded

we need a frame of reference here, by spectacular, are you talking about something like the crisis in the 70's? b/c i'll agree it won't be like that. When you say spectacular or stable, relativity is key.

is hezbollah endorsed by the goverment?

did hezbollah attack another country's official army?

ok then they are a terrorist organization

you cant just say that you are the defender of a country and have it be true

I think its attacking civilians for political reasons makes you a terrorist. the army is game.

[Edited on July 13, 2006 at 2:55 PM. Reason : but i do agree they are terrorists b/c they have done that.]

yea i'm not sure where i was going specifically saying attacking another country's army

the point is they are an illegitamite fighting group who use terror rather than diplomacy to win their battles

hezbollah, hamas and fatah may all have a few legitimate member who do not condone terrorist activity, but that does not mean they arent terrorist organizations

i just asked my lebanese office mate point blank "is hezbollah a terrorist group?"

"of course"

just because members of the hezbollah political movement are in the lebanese legislature, does not mean that the gov't condones or can control the actions of the military wing of this group.

what by bombing a populated international airport

they didnt bomb hezbollah, they bombed lebanon

big difference

israel is so arrogant, they think they can do what they want, it will catch up with them, and I cant wait

its good to see that you arent defending a terrorist organization anymore

arguing about the intensity and direction of israel's response to the attacks is a valid discussion

saying hezbollah isnt a terrorist group is just ridiculous
