...other than Johnny at Japan Direct.

What can you tell me? I tentatively need a Toyota 3SGTE engine.

check with these guys... i've purchased a couple of jdm engines from them and installed 5 or 6 others that came from them- they're in Asheville, but excellent customer service and seem to have better than average testing and general prep...

Joel you bastard.

No it ain't fer a Celica. Fuck a damn Celica. It's one of my favorite cars (just because, just because), but yeah, it's still a car.

No, this is fer mattc's MR2.

Got a strange clatter and I cannot tell where in the blue fuck it's coming from. Took the oil pan off, everything looks pretty good...no extra free play in ANYTHING. And no metal flakes in the oil from bearings that might have pounded out. This is a SERIOUS clatter too.

mattc, don't be offended by this, but I've seen your car at Dan's a bunch of times now. It's had more problems than most turbo rotaries I know, and that's saying a lot. The problem is that the overall body on that car is not clean. I don't know how long you've owned it, but either you got a Friday car or somebody didn't take good care of it at some point in its life. If you throw a JDM motor in there you are throwing your proverbial pearls before swine. There's too much other stuff in that car that's just waiting to shit on you.

I think you should just part that car out and buy another MR2 if you really like them. I know you've got a lot of money in it, but that's sunk cost as they say in economics. Try to get a loan or something for a good one, or buy a more reliable beater and save until you can afford a cleaner car to start all over with.

well it's been there a lot yes, but about 90% of the problems have been from a coolant leaking problem that wasn't finally fixed until dan found the cracked hose. the engine's overheated a million times, so there's plenty of damage being caused from that.

the only other problems have been from suspension (i wrecked the suspension managing to do zero body damage) and a dead clutch

and yeah i've been considering starting over on another mr2 for a while, i haven't found one yet that i'd spend the money on.

I got my 3SGTE from Motors Unlimited. I am pretty sure its based in California. Anyhow I got a 93 which had between 30-40 thousand for 1200 shipped. You could also look on the MR2 message board and see if anyone is selling one. You can search the board for motors unlimited and read a lot of good feedback about him. Here is his number. Ron (951) 283-3778

If you need any spare parts I have my old engine laying around. I also got a used ct-26 and a cracked KO downpipe. Good Luck
