I was just curious what an easy history class to take is. I have a full load for the fall so I didn't want a lot of reading.
Thanks. 7/18/2006 1:08:12 PM |

Forget the very idea of easy classes. Take something that interests you. Then you'll be motivated enough to put for the effort required for a good grade. This is the secret to getting good grades without feeling stressed out. 7/18/2006 1:47:57 PM |

is there such thing as a difficult history class
i was under the impression that all you needed was the ability to read at a 10th grade level and a warm body to sit in your desk every day 7/18/2006 5:08:48 PM |

my answer depends on how much time you want to spend studying, but i'd pick hi 207 with detriville, or hi 252(the one that starts at reconstruction and goes to now) 7/18/2006 8:33:33 PM |

History of North Carolina...his dry humor actually is funny. Class is dry, but an easy easy A if you show up, take notes, and reviw his pre-test study guides. If you skip less than three classes he will bump your grade up. I had a B, bumped to an A-7/20/2006 10:07:35 PM |

I got a fucking C+ in HI364. I took it over a summer and it seriously was the most boring thing I've ever sat through.
I took HI233 (world in the 20th century) with Sheftall the session after that and it was a lot better. Much more interesting and actually worth a damn. There was a lot more work compared to 364, but it was a better class. We read a book and did a paper on it and the tests were more involved. Sheftall is a good guy. 7/21/2006 1:02:21 AM |

HI 207 with parker. I took that class but I can't recall the professor. This guy was kind of geeky and talked about all the digs he goes on over sees. I saw his ass on the discovery channel one time talkin stuff. He was excited because "Mr. Spock" was doing the voiceover for his part. His hair was bushy and he had a mustache i think at the time. Those essays questions were a bitch though. The material itself was cool though. dont know Id take it as a summer class though. 7/22/2006 10:08:35 AM |

I disagree. They are boring as hell. I don't know if you took the 3-hour long class like I did or not, but every time I went into that room I wanted to die. Maybe you like history and I don't, but that is the worst class I've taken so far at State.7/22/2006 11:34:53 AM |

The only funny stuff he said in our class was when he was making fun of people for being idiots. I guess he made a few more jokes that were funny, but not more than 1/hour and the rest of the time he just stood there talking in monotone looking like it was the last place he wanted to be. I heard he was nice as could be if you talked to him outside class, but he honestly seemed to hate us all during class. It was cool that he gave out like 200 CDs the last day, though. Maybe he was better when you had him or something, because I'm pretty sure all but 2 or 3 people hated him in my class... I'm not calling you a liar or anything, just giving my own experience. 7/22/2006 7:50:51 PM |

i thought van vleck was cool as hell. I'm an engineering major, so i don't like any social sciences that much, but his were always decent to go to. He was a huge smartass though about certain things, but I always found them funny.
His daughter lived with one of my old friends in chapel hill and i met her last year. The way she talked though, he was a very unhappy man. 7/24/2006 4:01:51 PM |
