hitting a ball off of a tee is definitely more "sport-like" than soccer at that age - right......7/18/2006 2:56:09 PM |

how hard can it be to coach pee-wee T-ball, its herd-ball for the outfield team since they'll all chase around the ball no matter what, and you just have to tell the little kids when to swing
just say... "NOW" 7/18/2006 2:57:08 PM |

nothing about that is obvious due to the lack of information in your first post
most people on this board don't have a kid old enough to play t-ball though - maybe try singledad.com or something like that

way too lazy to look it up - but i bet there isn't a correlation of men that play soccer to being gay
i'd bet there is possibly one for men that didn't play sports at all though 7/18/2006 3:41:48 PM |

I coached youth basketball back in High School...it was a fucking blast. But I lost twice in the Final four and both times by one point. Those fuckers cried their eyes out.

Coaching kids in any sport really isn't that hard. The trick is making sure they understand what you're talking about and keeping things simple. Not too hard for t-ball. I used to coach 5 - 12 yr olds (i know, big age difference) in basketball. Kids also respond best when you use the "formula" of encourage, correct, and encourage. You have to be able to get their attn on the field, and have two different "yelling" voices. One for when you are mad, another just to be loud so they can hear you. Otherwise.. you end up with crying kids on the field 7/18/2006 9:34:05 PM |

if you coach, we're all gonna go to the games and get liquored up and threaten the kids with paddles

people that coach little kids in t-ball are really great people, IMO. to encourage young kids to get involved in athletics, and help them learn to play and appreciate the game, is really something admirable. 7/18/2006 9:38:41 PM |

Thats the worst advice ever. At the begining of the season I gave all the parents a letter saying shit about "teamwork, sportsmanship, etc" but in practice I told the kids losing sucks, at that I won't accept losing. I ran a complicated trapping defense and just drilled, the team was rewarded w/ 5 mins of offensive practice at the end of practice if they behaved. The first slip up and we ran, and we always ran at the end of practice. Now these kids were only 12, but they busted their asses to a 12-1 record and beat some team 64-12. Kids want to have fun, winning is fun; losing isn't. Hell one kid on my team was a freaking 5'8 monster but he was a pussy who hadn't ever played but by the end of the season he was confident as fuck. And speaking of fuck, kids love swearing and the more you swear the more respect they have for you. And finally, if you do scrimmage, bring your friends and play your kids and wipe the fucking floor with them...the kids get pissed and try harder and that carries over to games. Nothing like swatting some 12 year old and rubbing it in his face. When your team loses in the playoffs and cries like schoolgirls you know you did your job.

yeah yeah I suck at life. But it was a church league... so some of my options were limited. Plus... kids don't play when they cry. They stand there and let the other team run past them (It's how we lost probably our biggest game) 7/18/2006 9:56:10 PM |

Of all little league baseball, I'd imagine tee-ball and the first year or two of normal little league would probably be the hardest to coach. 7/19/2006 1:38:44 AM |
