I've got a 2001 Yamaha R6 that is having 2nd gear problems. I've done some research and this seems to be a premature wear problem on this generation r6....
I can get the parts needed for around 200$... But the engine will have to be dropped, and case opened up to replace the gear/shift forks...
This requires more tools/equipment than i own, and i dont know a ton about engines/transmissions...
If someone is looking to earn a some decent money for an over the weekend job let me know.. or i'll be forced to get raped by a dealership labor/parts... 7/18/2006 4:50:34 PM |

mmm r6's love to break those, (1st gen) mine didnt somehow! go to http://www.high-concept.com and order the shaft support. if you go through the trouble of fixing it .. it will come back unless you throw that on. you probably should learn how to shift too and it wont be as likely to do it in the future.
i threw the shaft support on mine and i never missed a shift with it (which makes it more prone to gear pop out when u do) 7/18/2006 4:53:46 PM |
