Nope. It oughta cool a fair amount straight outta the shop.
It's a system designed for R134, and therefore its idling efficiency should be adequate enough to provide a reasonable amount of cold air at a standstill.
It's true that a large quantity of moving air, such as that you get while the car is in motion, makes a big difference in the system's efficiency. But you still should notice an improvement right off the bat.
Who the hell did this? Has the car had any AC work done to it prior? 7/18/2006 5:34:45 PM |

maybe -34 from ambient temp or ~60 - that would be about right... but it should feel cool immediately 7/18/2006 5:55:34 PM |

so does freon NOT have anything to do with heat in the car...the temp. isnt rising at all... 7/18/2006 5:58:33 PM |

Now IF you have another problem, you're gonna run into a situation where the system may intermittently NOT cool at all. But only with a system utilizing a thermal expansion valve...if the expansion valve sticks closed.
It may only be an intermittent problem. However, a Grand Marquis should have a CCOT system (Clutch Cycling Orifice Tube) which has no expansion valve to stick closed.
34 degrees at the evaporator is pretty damn good performance. And you should definitely be able to notice a difference. 7/18/2006 6:02:15 PM |
