anybody else get an invite to join?? curious as to if any other young alums are going to take advantage of the reduced rates to try it out... seems like it's going to be something like the cardinal or capital club but for NCSU alums and donors. I think we're going to try it out and see if it's something that is worth the money. The couple of times we have been to the cardinal and capital club have been great times, maybe this will be on par with them. The letter also talked about reciprocal privileges at several other clubs in the US... that alone may be worth the cost of admission...

i stopped by the new alumni building today and took a looksee inside.... seems kinda snazzy... fireplace, big chandaliers and shit... overlooks the lake

it's $35 + 25 minimum food and beverage (1 dinner a month will cover that) for members under 35 years old...

Resident Membership (w/in 50 miles of the club) is $65 plus 35 food and beverage

so yeah essentially $60 bucks a month... I'm calling tommorow to get a tour arranged before we sign up... may be a good place for a planned night out each month... or a place to stop in and get a drink every now and again... depending on the facility

The letter states to contact them for a facility tour... it's supposed to be up and running by sept, so I figured it would be a rough walk thru... i'll find out more tommorow

i'm sure that's unlimited visits, but more than likely you still pay for your meals and beverages outright each visit... no matter who you bring. I would imagine it would be on the lines of what the cardinal or capital clubs are...

its my understanding, someone correct me if i am wrong, but the univeristy club is the faculty club. Membership is open to university faculty. For a while they opened membership up to alumni, i dont know if that is still the case.

pretty sure that's still the deal... not too sure what the membership requirements are for that club.. and it's really not that nice... we hold a chirstmas party there and the food isn't that great and the facilities need some updates... it used to be called the faculty club up until a few years ago

i think its just the restaraunt inside of the alumni center, similar to the carolina club at unc. i think it will be operated by the same company so the food will be really good and its great to support your school and get a good meal. i would recommend joining

ive gone to the cardinal club with members before, and i dont recall them paying for the meal outright

the menu isn't set yet, and yes the actual "club" is an area within the alumni center. there are also meeting rooms and a recption hall and the alumni association is on the 3rd floor. membership is limited to 1000 members (and spouses), and they are almost at that cap. membership benefits include reduced rates for rental of the reception hall, club events, reciprical privledges with over 250 clubs worldwide and concerige services... well worth it IMHO. The guy did say the prices would be fair. The beef will be aged 21 day prime, overnighted in from chicago (think ruth chris). They have hired the head chef, pastry chef, and a fish/sushi chef, all with impecible resumes. word is that the profits will go back to the university, with the first amount going to help fund the golf course, which we may or may not (rumor mill wink wink) have privlidges to upon completion. right now the initiaion fee is waived but goes to $500 after July 31.

needless to say we signed up... it is very very nice.
