Damn this is getting crazy. Just when you think that the Veron's numbers can't be beat for a long long time, this thing comes out; more powerful, faster, and quicker!
Barabus TKR takes over as world's fastest car
Quote : | "The Bugatti Veyron is no longer the world's fastest car. Today — following a number of teasers and leaks — Barabus officially unveiled the TKR: a new 1005 horsepower supercar the automaker says is capable of doing zero to 60 mph in 1.67 seconds. What's more, the car reportedly has a top speed of 270 mph — nearly 20 more than the Veyron. Power comes from a 6.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged with dual intercoolers. Details remain sparse, but the automaker says it will sell the car for £360,000, which should translate to around $500,000, using typical automotive market conversion rates. It's worth noting that Barabus sometimes refers to the car as being able to hit 60 mph in "under 2 seconds," rather than the stated 1.67. Even so, there is still some doubt among enthusiasts if such a figure is even possible. Nonetheless, the car is on display at the 2006 British International Motor Show, and we expect to get more details in the near future. The TKR is said to have been in development for the last 10 years. The car is to be made in Italy and the power plant is built in the United Kingdom. Worldwide volume is projected to be 300-400 cars over the estimated three-year production run. " |
The numbers do seem to reflect that it has been under development for the last 10 years, but it seems like the body was designed 10 years ago and then never updated. It looks like a home project, especially if you look at the engine bay...

man i wouldn't pay shit for that pos knockoff
Thats a fucking carburated Banks turbo smallblock chevy and the car is some lame ass wanna be zonda/elise knockoff
get that shit out of here.
that piece of shit is almost as bad as me posting a 9 second mustang and saying some douche bag wants to sell it for 500k
and that 0-60 is bullshit unless the car weighs 1000lbs or has a drag setup 4 link under the rear
*disclaimer* these are my opinions.... if you don't like them i don't care.

Why even bother to make this statement? Is it really inconceivable to think this car has some sort of setup that can plant it to the ground to make such a low 0-60 and also be lightweight enough to make it happen?
You're really irrate over this for basically no reason.7/21/2006 10:10:45 AM |

What point are you trying to argue? Based on your tone, you are coming off as seemingly capable of pulling something like this off due to the relative low tech of the power plant. Go drink another beer and go for a drive, you're delusional. 7/21/2006 10:25:32 AM |

Old styling, looks like a kit car, no refinement, no interior shots (its probably just a tub), no claims on the handling.

I'd like to know what seriously powerful motor still uses a distributor and not a coil on plug system. Also, it's highly unlikely that the car does 0-60mph ~ 0-100kmph in 1.67, maybe a 1.67 60' or 0-60kmph, but look at how even on the website there is no mention of 0-60mph, but when he mentions the top speed he includes a unit. this smells like a fly by night scam to me.

The difference is, the guy is trying to say this is a production ready, polished automobile. If someone made this as a personal project then yes I would be very impressed. There's a whole world of difference
And the interior is pretty much just a big tub7/21/2006 2:04:09 PM |

Quote : | "The TKR engine is designed and built by Barabus and incorporates modern racing motor technology and engineering. Based on a V8 all aluminium block re-engineered by Barabus, the twin turbo dual intercooler motor generates 1005 horsepower at 6800 rpm; redlining at 7500 rpm. Space age materials and engineering are used throughout:
* A Barabus Electromech control system computer handles engine management. * The ignition system is integrated coil-on-plug. * A longitudinally mounted transaxle, with unique Barabus bell housing, transfers power to the wheels. " |
and the picture right next to this... has the motor with the cover on it that says banks power.
GG retards
