My job is located at a school over the summer so we connect through their network. Their filter kicks in and stops me from getting into alot of websites, anyone know how I can get around this?

use a proxy server or packet sniff for the password

or obey FroshKiller and talk to the network admin

most good admins block the usual proxys so your best bet is to make a proxy at your home with a static IP (which will cost money normally).

You connect to a computer and another network that doesn't have filters. Remote Desktop will do this.

I'm having the same problem this summer. I use tor to get around it.
http://tor.eff.org/

Admittedly, it runs a little (ok, a lot) slower than full speed (it normally runs at 25-50% of the real speed), but its easy to turn on and off as needed in Firefox using Torbutton (search extensions to find it), though you can configure anything to use it, so long as the program accepts proxy servers.

I've been using it to access facebook and download music since early June, and its worked wonderfully for me.

if you can get out via ssh then you can forward your traffic out that way to an external proxy server (say one on a box at home). You can also use ssl explorer from a box at home and connect to your machines over https and browse that way.
