are $100 electric shavers really better than $30 electric shavers?

i bought my husband a norelco a few years back for a little over $100. He likes it, but still prefers to use his gillette sometimes with water and shaving gel. The water w/shaving gel shave makes his face smoother, but the norelco is nice if he forgets to shave in a hurry when we're leaving or something...he keeps in in the car a lot.

Yes you get what you pay for... I've had a $40 and I've had a $120 one. The $120 one works a heck of a lot better but you'll never get as smooth as with a good ol fashioned razor. Remember you still have to replace the blades on these things eventually and they aren't cheap. I'd about reccomend a waterproof one to use in the shower. Most people think I'm crazy when I say I shave in the shower but it for some reason helps my face not break out and does a better job for me.

^ the heat/moisture preps your skin, opening the pores... makes shaving a lot better.. when you get out of a hot shower and from shaving, a splash of cold water on your face is a good way to shock the skin and close the pores to prevent getting bumps, etc

I once had one that cost about $50 made for women. Well, it said it was made for women, but I think it was just purple and not much else was different. I think the part that held the blade was a little off center, because the blade punched through the foil (the part that covers the blade), so every time I tried to shave with it, it cut the hell out of my leg. I replaced the foil, and the same thing happened again. I'd definitely recommend getting one that costs $100+ or so.

All the men in my family seem to like the kind with the rotating circle cutters better than the type I had. I wish I knew the names for them, but I think you can tell what I'm describing.

rotary shavers are better in my mind. i have used both kinds and i've gotten much better results since switchin to a rotary many years ago. currently i have a norelco speed xl that i got at target last year i believe for around $80 or so. 1 of the best shavers i've ever used.

I've got the norelco one that sales for about 100 bucks in wal marts and targets. It works really well. I was able to find it on sale once at Khols for about 60 bucks

a while back i just said fuck this shit and stopped shaving.

it is tons easier to just use a trimmer and trim the hair really short and then let it grow out for a couple days, then repeat.

No more razor burn. No more buying razor blades. And don't have to worry about shaving everyday.

I felt really bad b/c my grandpa got me one of those $100 electric norelco thingies with all the extra bells and whistles and it didn't do shit for me. The cheaper rotary electrics are a little better for me, but honestly, I shave in the shower too. Instead of using a mirror I do it all by feel. I find that the whole experience is much smoother and less painful with the warm water etc.

Electrics for me don't cut close enough. I have to go over it like 20 times and that irritates the skin and makes me get all red and shit.

7000 series or higher Norelco. There is a difference in quality of components between model lines of the shaving products (3XXX, 4XXX, 6XXX, 7XXX, etc.) but there is no difference within a series line (7345, 7465, 7875, etc): they only add features like battery indicator, LCD, etc. Regardless, there is going to be a 2 week adjustment period where you get cuts, bumps, and irritation... you can't do much to avoid it. After that its smooth sailing.

Whenever you do buy an electric, use a 20% off coupon for LNT.com (can get the coupons on any coupon site)

You do get what you pay for. I was never able to get a close shave on an electric until I ponied up the $$$ and got a Bruan Activator.

I might as well just shave with a lawnmower than use an electric razor.

I let my beard grow out for a year after we paddled the Mississippi River, and just shaved a couple of weeks ago. I was one burly bastard. Damn I hate shaving!
