Anyone familiar with Baltimore as far as hotels are concerned? Going up in August for a preseason game and just staying for a night. The game is at 8pm so recomendations for things to do before and after are appreciated. We would like to be within walking distance if possible... but not a big deal.. 7/23/2006 9:43:57 PM |

Theres a Marriott, Sheraton, and Hyatt right at the inner harbor, like 3-4 blocks stadium, but also right by the other attractions (galleria, ESPNzone, etc). There is also a holiday inn about 4 blocks North of the stadium.
Go out in Federal Hill. I always liked it better than Fells point

yeah, I've been to the ESPNzone & aquarium. Prob won't need to do that on this trip...
And what exactly is Federal Hill? like a district good for ngiht life?
And any idea which hotel out of those 4 (Marriot, Sheraton, Hyatt, + Holiday Inn) is the best? 7/23/2006 9:50:37 PM |

I never stayed in any of them, but the first 3 would be better than the last. The neighborhood gets a bit shady North of the 1st mariner arena and Holiday inn
Fed Hill is just an area of Baltimore with bars and such. It's similar to Glenwood South in that it used to be a dive part of town but was revitalized. Fells Point has the bigger night clubs that get a lot of traffic. Fed Hill has smaller bars/pubs. 7/23/2006 9:54:05 PM |

I'm actually leaning towards the holiday inn at the inner harbor... It seems pretty sweet, less pricey than the others and withing walking distance
Just wish i could find one for less than $170 a night
I'll definitely use the indoor pool/spa though 7/24/2006 11:34:34 AM |

Federal Hill, Canton (another night spot), Fells Point. Anywhere in the inner harbor area is usually pretty nice. I would definitely check out the galleria/harbor place. In the harbor place there is a brewery called capitol city brewing, they have great food/beer if thats your thing.
This is a pretty good map with a bunch of things/areas to see. http://www.baltimore.to/Maps/index.html
Also fort mchenry is another great place to see.
Send me a PM if you have more questions. 8/1/2006 7:38:11 PM |
