you can use open office and save/export as a pdf, that's what i've been using for 2 years or so

Wow I just said foxit in the other thread. ~1 MB, smaller and quicker than adobe (~65 mb). it's awesome.

one would have to assume he's trying to fill in forms that are distributed in pdf format on a computer, rather than print and do by hand. if that's correct, there are a few hackjobs out there, but seldom is the export 100% correct (pdfs aren't just plain postscript containers anymore). if you just want to create a pdf, check out cutepdf, it works just like the distiller printer driver

you're an idiot...and something tells me you've never touched Acrobat professional to do anything other than convert word documents to pdfs

foxit does the job, i'm just not a fan of the evaluation stamp it puts on there

I don't use acrobat to create pdfs from word documents, there are many free/better programs to do that. I don't really have a need for the full version but I'm well aware of it's capabilities. acrobat pro (for the most part) adds pdf as a recognized document type for the normal editors/productivity suites on your machine and making it just as easily manipulated as a .doc file. there are other features like locking, encrypting, etc, but they're just "extras"
