Earlier tonight, I was heading home down Glenwood South. My oil light comes on.. then a few minutes later my car cuts off at the stop light. I turn it off and start it back up.. I go up a few feet and it cuts off again.. Luckily I was about to pull into the median at the corner of peace/glenwood. I ended up getting AAA to tow me home. I noticed it leaking out up the road to where my car got stuck.
If anybody is available later today, can somebody come by and look at it.
My car is a 2000 Kia Sephia

You gonna need more than somebody lookin' at that motherfucker.

When the oil light comes on, you SHUT THAT MOTHERFUCKER DOWN IMMEDIATELY.

Looks like you are prolly gonna have to have a new engine now.

if you hit something that rips a hole in the oil pan then yes. the oil light doesnt mean keep driving till you get it looked at, it means cut it off. i dont know why all cars dont have a low pressure shutdown like gm. becasue its not an option, if it keeps running , the engine is done, so a shutdown switch will cost you a tow, but save the engine, its retarded

I think everyone is saying you need more than a patch.

I just got into the shop. He's going to replace the oil plan. I hate to see how much its going to be. I paid $74 to get towed last night.

Well that ain't beans compared to 2 grand for a new engine. Which is how much it might still be.

Hope a new pan will fix it. If it turns out the engine is shot then time to swap in an LS1

^^They didn't have a mechanic today. So, they are going to hold my car til Monday and work on it then.
It's at an Exxon Garage and is the closest one to me. I tried one other place I've taken car to before but nobody was in. So I took it to Exxon.

and ^ thanks man.

I don't know much about kia's either, but putting a new oil pan on a small car like that shouldnt be all that hard if you have some ramps.

^^ I'm not.. I'm being careful about it.. Besides, I got about another 6 months left to pay on it. I'm definitely looking at something else for my next car. I have a few problems with it over the last couple of years.

If you're good with Mazdas, you're good with Kias. There is nothing out of the ordinary with them.

You might try Happy Jap's in Cary (467-2884). I do work on Asian imports, but I'm slammed for the next couple of weeks.

I had to tow my car again to another garage. I ended up taking it to Autobahn Automotive on Atlantic Ave. Somebody had recommended them to me. I had couple of other recommendations but they were in Cary and that was too far. They should get it done for me tomorrow. Its going to run around $300. Oil Pan itself is $150-200. I had no idea it was that high. That plus labor which will be around $100/hr.

What I would like to know is how much metal shards are laying in your oil pan.
