what's the scene like in raleigh now?
i bought a new Giant Trance 4 today. the shop had already upgraded to brakes to avid discs, and i got a credit on the pedals (l like times rather than the spd's that come with the bike). i swapped the bargain basement wheels with the mavic x317 wheels w/ xt hubs from my hardtail. tomorrow i'm going to shorten the bars a little bit and it will be good to go. its my first full suspension, i'm looking foward to breaking it in.
i was anti-full suspension for a long time, but my bones are getting tired of shaking. 7/31/2006 12:27:24 AM |

A good bike seems essential to a fun experience. I've been happy with my Raleigh Ram 3.0, but will be looking to upgrade soon. So much for this being a cheap hobby... Ahmet 7/31/2006 3:54:11 AM |

it's not cheap, i had to get out of it before cause i was always breakin shit. the better you get the more shit you'll break. doesn't seem that way but it's true. 7/31/2006 8:48:03 PM |

wrong, it seems that way because as you get better you feel the need to upgrade to lighter weight parts
when you use lighter parts, they arent as strong sometimes as the heavier not-so-great parts
now if you were actually getting better, you would be able to use those lighter, better parts the correct way and not break them
so work on your finesse, then come report back on your ability gains8/1/2006 6:50:20 AM |

Well, if you're a hucker, then you also feel the need to push your limits (light weight parts or not) and when you fail things break.
What he said was fine.

If you've never failed attempting something you weren't sure you were capable of or not, then you clearly aren't pushing your limits. There is no debate about that.8/1/2006 10:09:37 AM |
