In my relentless pursuit of making the perfect sandwich I thought to myself how many slices of deli meat will yield the perfect taste of bread and deli meat. I know many here take their lunch to school and work. So I want to know, how many slices do you use? 7/31/2006 8:56:35 AM |

4 slices of turkey correctly folded and placed
be sure to put the mustard or whatever you put in between the cheese and the meat, not between the cheese and bread, this prevents the stickiness with the bread and the teeth
I cant have it getting stuck to the roof of my mouth 7/31/2006 9:23:42 AM |

I'm thinking thinly sliced, about 1mm thick?

Good Form, I'll do that from now on. When I make a sandwich I usually eat it right away, but now since I'm packing my lunch this technique is logical.7/31/2006 10:44:49 AM |

Does your bread ever get soggy when you put the mustard on it and leave it in the fridge for 3 hours? 7/31/2006 4:25:02 PM |

for those of you yielding soggy bread in your pursuit of sandwich excellence, a nice trick i learned from a restaurant i worked at is spreading your condiments thinly on BOTH pieces of bread. This prevents moisture from pooling at one spot.
With reference to deli meat, i like to use two pieces of quality deli ham with one piece of crappy oscar mayer turkey in between. I like the contrasting consistencies of the two types of meat with a nice, hard piece of provolone.
mmm, sandwich. 7/31/2006 4:44:19 PM |

I prefer any even number of thick-sliced roast beef pieces, carefully folded so no meat hangs over the edges of the bread 7/31/2006 4:50:38 PM |

I also think it is important to challenge the monotony of sandwich eating that is the 9 to 5 by setting aside one day for what my roommates and I like to call, The Manwich. This creation is a simple tangible realization of how much money you are saving by not eating out on a daily basis. Simply scrounge your deli drawer in the fridge and get all meats and cheeses available. Pile high until you know you have reached deli nirvana and then add condiments as necessary. Remember to eat the Manwich in front of the girls at the office. They will be impressed with both the size and quality of your Manwich, realizing that you are a frugal, future oriented man with a big appetite. 7/31/2006 4:57:23 PM |

^similar to the manwich...kinda...
i worked at a subway last summer and made what i called the "meat extravaganza". it was a 6 inch sub on italian herb and cheese with: 5 slices of turkey, 2 slices of ham, 5 slices of roast beef, 8 strips of bacon, 4 pepperonis or 1 pack of chicken or 1 pack chicken teryaki, 2 slices of swiss, 2 slices of cheddar and a topping of shredded cheese. toasted of course.
it was great. i made it for a few of my friends and they enjoyed it as well.

You should've taken the piece of meat off, slapped her in the face with it (Im hoping it was a piece of Oscar Mayer bologna) and said, "Get in the kitchen and make me a wooly Manwich, bitch!"
She would have probably started crying at the ferociousness you would have portrayed and would quickly make your Manwich. Afterwards you could have sat in front of her eating it; she would have been so impressed that she would have probably offered to pleasure you. To which, you would have said, "Make me another Manwich!"
She would have fainted from an even mixture of desire and intimidation. 8/1/2006 9:04:15 AM |

When I worked at Quiznos...
I had the Back Breaker Sandwich, in honor of the guy banging his chick on the AC unit there.
1/2 bacon 1/2 roast beef 1/2 Steak 1/4 swiss 1/4 chedder 1/8 provolone
Honey Mustard French Steak Sauce and a dab of spicy steak sauce
In the oven....and the best piece of meat I had put into my mouth until I tasted pink tacos. 8/1/2006 12:34:08 PM |

Honestly...I think the roast beef and steak were just sliced differently...and that was all the differences were...I could be mistakened.
I gave away like 20 of them to people coming in on my last night of working. 8/1/2006 12:40:47 PM |
