Bills' McCargo overcome by heat

Rookie defensive tackle John McCargo, a first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills, was back on the practice field Sunday after being hospitalized for dehydration the night before.
"I'll be drinking my fluids now," McCargo said after taking part in the Bills' light practice Sunday.

McCargo, the second of Buffalo's two first-round draft picks, was cleared to practice a day after severe dehydration-related cramping sent him on a precautionary trip to a Rochester-area hospital.

The former N.C. State defensive lineman was transported by ambulance about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, two hours after the Bills completed their second of two practices in muggy conditions with temperatures peaking at 94.

McCargo said his hospital stay was brief because the cramps had subsided by the time he arrived.

"Legs, hamstrings, everything. ... I never expected that to happen because I'm not a big cramper," said McCargo, selected 26th overall. "But I'm 100 percent now. I'm ready to go."
