i'm sure they don't count israels many attacks and american atomic bombs so it's useless.

but its fact that america and israel have killed more innocent civilians than any "terrorist" group.

I knew that it would happen quickly, but I was surprised that the very first post was some dickhole saying "Governments kill more people than terrorists! Durrrrrr!"

Forgetting the fact that such a comparison is completely asinine, I vote that we abolish governments all together and live under the leadership of terrorist groups.

As far as threats to life and liberty go, terrorists are well below bad governments. Of course, sometimes terrorists groups become bad governments.

Btw, which group has committed the most terrorist attacks? That site is a little confusing...

Golden, I was hoping for a quick and dirty answer too, this reading and figuring stuff is bullshit.

is an asinine response to:

"Governments kill more people than terrorists!"

We would never suggest abolishing governments, we would simply hope to keep it in perspective. Using terrorism as an excuse to give governments even more power is like saying what you just said only in reverse. The truth is that they are both bad and should be dealt with.

cxmai you're such a stupid fucking idiot--we dropped the bomb on Japan to save US lives, end of story. Zillions of US servicemen's lives would have been lost in an invasion of Japan. People die in war--that's how things go.

That was sarcasm, old sport.

When did I advocate that?

True. My comment was a response to the cliche college kid anti-establishment observation that governments kill more people than terrorists. Of course they do. They engage in full scale war and have better resources - this doesn't make them worse than terrorist groups. I'm sure that its every terrorist's wet dream to have the military resources of a world power, but for now they have to settle for setting off car bombs in crowded city squares and cutting heads off on the internet.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Here is one of the 800 or so terrorist groups listed on that site:

Quote :
"Action Committee of Winegrowers

Mothertongue Name:
Comite d'Action Viticole (CAV)

Aliases: Winegrowers Action Committee

Base of Operation: France

Founding Philosophy: Little is known about Comite d'Action Viticole (CAV), a group that claims to act on behalf of discontented winegrowers in the Midi region of France. Midi winegrowers blame the state for failing to deal with problems of over-production and foreign competition in wine. The CAV's first attack was the 1999 bombing of a gas pipe in the Herault region. Two other attacks took place in the area on the same night, but CAV only claimed responsibility for the aforementioned bombing. In addition, in February 2002, the group bombed a train signal box on the Beziers-Narbonne high-speed line in the south of France, disrupting train traffic for 48 hours. This attack immediately followed a January riot at which thousands of protesters set palm trees and trash cans on fire.

Current Goals: CAV's current goals are unknown."

I was actually thinking of the kind of shit Stalin and Mao pulled, not what happens in war. But bad governments are worse, if only because they do have more resources.
