I was just wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions on voice lessons/teachers in the triangle area. I did a google search and didn't get as much feedback as I had expected so I was hoping that I could get some feedback from anyone who might have possibly taken lessons or knows someone who has. I would really appreciate it.
I did get one reference to a J. Michael Pope out of Durham which is the person I'm leaning towards to the most but again, I haven't gotten many reviews on him so if anyone has heard of him and can offer some information, that would be great! 8/2/2006 4:31:09 PM |

are you classically trained? are you trying to sing rock n roll? are you trying to gain an understanding of the fundamentals?
voice lessons can really suck with the wrong type of instructor. 8/2/2006 5:28:42 PM |

I'm basically just trying to hone what I already have. I sing the National Anthem a lot and I would really like to improve on some areas so that I am more comfortable when performing it. I also have a passion for singing and would just like to learn more about what range I have and the different keys I can hit. I'm not vocally trained at all and the only musical background I have is a couple years of piano but I was like 8 and can barely remember anything.
To answer gunzz's question, I am still a student and taking a class could be beneficial but I would like a one on one kind of thing and plus, it's my last semester and I have a rough schedule along with many other things so an added class might not be the option...yes I could audit it but then I really wouldn't get out of it what I wanted.
And yes, I agree, taking voice lessons from the wrong instructor would really stink! I'm definitely not looking for a classical style of singing, for example, an Italian opera coming out of my mouth would not be something folks would want to hear, haha. It's just like I said above, I just want to learn a few techniques to better my voice all around and any help would help me out tremendously 8/2/2006 6:39:04 PM |

Ms. Ward in Price Music Center would be the person that you'd want to talk to... she's awesome, and teaches Vocal Techniques. Very good class. 8/3/2006 12:23:37 PM |
