So i am signed up for CE332 and CE463, and it says i have not yet met the requirements for either of them.
according to wolfware CE463 doesnt have any pre-reqs, though i have taken CE 261(which if there was a pre req i would say that would be it)
and for CE332 it says i need MAT200, which is now MSE200(which i took and passed in the spring), and CSC 112, which i have also already taken and passed, hell i even taught it for a semster.
anyways anyone know why packtracks is telling me i havent met my requirements, nad they arent gonna drop me from these classes are they? 8/7/2006 10:54:53 AM |

they might drop you.
I would go and talk with your advisor and they should be able to straighten it out. 8/7/2006 11:05:01 AM |

that one's easy. packtracks sucks.
i forget which classes it is, but there's a class in textiles that has two classes listed as prereqs. no one ever takes both, because its an either/or situation.
there's also another class that has/had EC 205 listed as a prereq...never mind that we take EC 201 and EC 202.
The folks at engineering may recognize this sort of situation and just ignore fuckups like this, because they may be so used to seeing this particular mistake.8/7/2006 11:11:48 AM |

Double-check with your advisor, and have him/her subsitute MAT200 with MSE200. I had something similar happen when it wouldn't automatically recognize MA405 in place of MA305 on my degree ... quick fix. Also ask them to update their degree key ... it's a bit ... um, outdated

from what i understand, MAT was changed to MSE so that MAT either doesnt exist or are one in the same. 8/7/2006 1:35:14 PM |

Ehh.. they have me as "requirements not met" on a stats class I'm scheduled for... the only prereq for it I took last spring...
maybe if you were still taking the prereq at the time of scheduling.. ? eh i dont know.. it's all weird. like someone said earlier.. maybe just drop a line to your advisor or professor. 8/7/2006 2:13:05 PM |

the MAT/MSE has been that way for at least three years
it was like that when i took MSE 200 but it shouldn't prevent you from taking a class
just talk to parrish, he'll set shit straight8/7/2006 4:13:10 PM |

just talk to your teacher, it's up to them to decide if they drop you or not 8/7/2006 4:36:04 PM |

I had the same thing happen to me with the same class. Dont worry about it. Just make sure you talk to either the class Proff or your advisor. 8/7/2006 6:38:08 PM |

pack tracks doesn't suck ... the old legacy system sucks (this is what is running in the background of pack tracks).
the legacy system doesnt do a pre-req check. therefore we (at R&R) have to do it manually. we have a person who enters pre-reqs into another system that then checks it against your schedule. if a pre-req has been updated in course catalog, but not in the pre-req system then it might show up incorrectly.
additionally, some courses have pre-reqs that the departments don't really care about so we don't check for them at all or we check but they do nothing with it.
lastly, the system cannot check for courses that you have not yet received a grade for - ie. you are taking it 2nd summer session but your grade isnt posted yet.
about the MSE, MAT thing ... it is probably checking for the old prefix.
I will check on that one today. If you know you have met the pre-req for something, but it is showing up as not met, shoot me an e-mail with your name (or student id) and what class you are having trouble with - i can check it out for you.
you can e-mail me here or for a faster response - nicole_harrell@ncsu.edu 8/8/2006 7:06:35 AM |

Ok, so I did some digging and this is what I found about the CE pre-reqs:
for CE 332, the pre-req is MAT 200 (now MSE 200); CSC 112 or 114; Junior standing in CE.
for CE 463, the pre-req is CE 261 or equivalent
These have now been loaded into the system and adjusted on course catalog. However, I'm not sure how often it does the pre-req check so it may not show up immediately. 8/8/2006 5:58:28 PM |

thanks a lot I have all pre reqs for both of my courses then. does this mean i no longer need to talk to my advisor about that? 8/8/2006 6:09:04 PM |
