Hate to burst your bubble, but Amato's seat is a lot hotter than you thank it is. And 3-9 isn't out of the question either.

calm down, get drunk, enjoy the games

We aren't going to win the national championship, we aren't going to win the ACC... so don't build up your hopes... be prepared to lose and this way nobody is disappointed and bitching

3-9 and 9-3 aren't out of the question...our schedule is weak but if out team is weaker...it could be ugly.

I really don't think he is on the hotseat unless we lose a lot of games this year. I think 8 would be a nice goal for this team. If we can beat the teams we have more talent than (App St., Akron, S. Miss, Wake, Maryland, UVA, UNC, ECU) And we all know we can play FSU as good as anyone...plus GT, Clemson, and BC are beatable. We really need to beat Wake, UNC, Maryland and all the OOC then i like our chances to get 1 or 2 out of the tough games.

I agree...we are maybe a 6-6 team in my mind but I'm going to enjoy this season unlike the past couple that have been filled with too much hype and anger.

we arent going to go 3-9. I understand bein a realist thats great i am too thats why im not going to say we are gona go 10-2. But we will win atleast 6-7 games maybe 8-9 if we find a passing game. Regardless have fun go to games and party after win or lose

^^Plus UVA is really down and we usually play them well.

8-4 SHOULD be attained but I still predict 6-6.

swing games will be UNC, G. Tech, UVA, and BC. If we can go 3-1, we will be in good shape, but I expect 2-2. I expect us to lose to FSU and Clemson.

this is ridiculous...

Amato has been to a bowl game 5 out of 6 years and is 4-1 in those games. this stat alone should remove him from any "hot seat"

we are the best football program in the state of NC (which isn't saying much, i know) and Amato has taken our program from being one with little national prominence to one that gets talked about in the national media

also, C. Amato is the fourth ranked coach in ACC HISTORY in the number of wins after six years

his only knock is that he hasn't finished higher than fourth in the ACC, which, while unfortunate, is really not that bad considering we are a program on the rise and the overall level of play in our league.

they brought amato in to win, not to win 6 maybe 7 games consistently...that was the idea atleast especially after when philip was here. but in all seriousness, if cowher was interested, id fire amato...

^ As long as Amato keeps helping expand the stadium, take us to bowl games (and win those bowl games), and recruits consistently out of one of the greatest high school football regions in America (Southern Florida), you can just quit dreaming about getting rid of Amato...

In all honesty, I think Amato's doing a great job with what he has to work with, and ever since he got here, he just keeps on polishing the program ever year (minus 2004 season).

But he does need to get his act together on all those penalties though, not that is both ridiculous and makes the football team look childish...

btw, our 2004 OOC schedule, along with the whole 2004 schedule in general, was ridiculously hard. At that time P. Rivers just left, so powerhouses still thought we could compete with them offensively. People don't forget that we played FLORIDA STATE, MIAMI, OHIO STATE, VIRGINIA TECH, GEORGIA TECH, and CLEMSON all in the same season back in 2004, and our defense was still ranked #1 in the end...

As I was saying a few posts ago, Amato shouldn't really be on any hot seat at all if you don't consider the 2004 season (and the UNC losses), We played 6 ranked teams that season

FLORIDA STATE
MIAMI
OHIO STATE
VIRGINIA TECH
GEROGIA TECH
CLEMSON

and our defense was still ranked #1 in the end...

We could have went to a BCS bowl that season winning only 2/3 of those games....

Btw, 3 of those teams were in the top 15

^we will do better if we dont do the stupid shit we did early last season. I think this offense has the potential to have MUCH more fire power so its a push between losing the D and gaining experience on offense. All we have to do is play smart football and we'll be as good as last year.

(which wasnt very good overall IMO)

well, i like our running game, and if the end of last season was an indication, we ought to be committed to it. i also like the idea of blackman at WR. i thought that move should have been made ever since i saw him make that insane 1-handed catch @maryland.

i wish we would give burke a shot at the QB job though. it'd be nice to phase him in using a run-heavy offense, and start working in the pass more as he becomes more comfortable with the college game.

but hey, at least jay davis is gone

[Herb Speak]

We have been to the NCAA tournament 5 straight years.

We went to the sweet 16 last year.

We finished 2nd in the ACC once.

We have the 2nd best record in the ACC in the past 4 years.

Herb was voted COY two years ago.

We are recruiting better than we have since Jimmy V's glory days.

hating on a coach is bad for the program

regardless of what they have done or havent done, wait until the season is over to do it.

one would think that after all the bad press NCSU got from the herb deal that state fans would have learned

but they are state fans= not real bright

No shit. But the situations are still pretty similar. Herb put up some pretty damn good stats that you can turn around and say..."well, he didn't beat UNC and Duke....the ACC was weak during those 4 years...he didn't go deep in the tourney...etc".

Amato's "4th in wins in ACC Hisotry after six years" is a pretty dumb stat. We have had some of the weakest OOC schedules ever during those 6 years....its actually pretty laughable. I mean, that statement makes it sound like he's one of the 4 best coaches in ACC history. He might barely be the 4th best coach in NC State history. He still hasn't had better than a 5-3 record in the ACC....and he had one of the best QBs in ACC, if not NCAA history on the team for 4 of those years.

Oh whoop-tee-do...we've won some bowl games. Against who?? South Florida?? Minnesota?? Kansas?? Our best bowl win was against an overrated Notre Dame team that came in with no motivation and playing shitty at the time. It was a good win, but that's about it. I feel like most of our bowl wins were the equivalent of winning a first round NCAA game. The Notre Dame win was like making the sweet 16.

Yeah...basketball and football are different. But this article reeks of the same shit that media writers used to defend Herb. Yeah...it takes a while to build a football program. But Amato is this "great recruiter" and all. He's had a couple years of nothing but his players...yet his best years came with someone else's players. I just think that's kind of funny.

Quote :
"aha, it would be a media onslaught if we got rid of Chuck this year. "

Not if we had a piss-poor year. In case you haven't noticed...most of the media doesn't like Chuck and they've been riding him pretty good. And they are saying that he's on the hot-seat, so there will be a lot of back-patting if we fuck up this year and he gets canned. Of course there will be some onslaught...but it won't be that much.

Bottom line is that we have to do something this year. If we go 5-7 or 6-6 will Chuck get fired?? Probably not...but you bet your ass he'll have to pull something out of his ass the next year. And if we go 4-8 or 3-9, there will be a good chance he won't be here the next year. If you don't believe that, then basically....you're just dumb.

I want Chuck to succeed. He can recruit, he's got a good personality, and he's an alumni. But I'm tired of having all of this "talent" and seeing it get wasted.

All comparisons of basketball and football end when you consider our tradition and history in each. We were absolutely nothing in football. Now, an inkling of the beginning of something, but we're still pretty much better than 90% of the teams we've historically had.

We were absolutely a force in basketball, and now, we're still pretty much better than 5-10% of the teams we've historically had.

Amato gets more slack because the tradition, history, and expectations are on a totally different level than basketball. Apples and Oranges.

We beat Texas in 99...Rashaun Spikes had a big day and Terrence threw a block party.

We lost to some scrub team next...Baylor maybe but I think that was after the win over FSU in 98...maybe SMU...I don't remember...I blocked that out of my memory.

O'Cain was up and down...Beat FSU lose to Baylor then beat Syracuse w/ McNabb
Beat Texas in Austin, lose to SMU, etc.
