id say the smoltz splitter is a tough one to handle but then again the Koch fastball was almost impossible to touch

Randy Johnson's slider was unhittable in his prime, especially for a left-handed batter.

I laughed.

Most hitters will say Rivera's cutter. Most announcers will, as well.

I also agree.

But, I will make some other nominations:

Best pitches CURRENTLY in baseball:
Clemens splitter
Halliday's sinker
Chien Ming Wang's sinker
Liriano and Santana's changeups
Ben Sheet's curveball
Prior's curveball

Best Ever
Nolan's fastball
Sutter's splittie
Gooden's curve
Kofax's curve
Unit's prime Slider

didnt greg maddux have a pitch about 10 years ago that was really good?

like it always caused hitters to ground out

Maddux is a nibbler. He doesn't have one dominating pitch. It's no secret the Braves pitchers got more of the plate then anyone else anyway, which is ONE reason Glavine and Maddux were so succesful. Personally I think Smoltz was the best of the 3 since he is able to do it even with Questech..

I'm still lauging about someone including Tom Gordon's curveball.

maddux, glavine, and smoltz got no more of the plate than any other cy young winner who pitches on the corners

and i almost forgot about santana's change, that shit is nasty

Maddux's 2-seamer in the 90s was pretty dominate.

Trevor Hoffman's changeup and Johan Santana's Circle AND regular changeup come to mind too.

Zito's curve when it's going form the letters to the shoestrings in an instant, when he hangs it, look out. Francisco Rodriguez of the angels has some nasty stuff, most notably his slider
