or is GT overrated as fuck
SI says they're one of the 16 'contenders' this year
no one can win a national championship with a 5'3" quarterback who only completes 50% of his passes, even if he does have calvin johnson

the other day while listening to 850 i heard, "on any given play, reggie ball can look like one of the best qb's in the country, but on most plays, he looks like the absolute worst."
that pretty much sums how i feel about him 8/8/2006 11:24:46 PM |

Clemson is getting all the hype this year and seems that most are overlooking GaTech (at least in the places I've look or listened to). THey are going to be much tougher than people anticipate and wouldn't surprise me if they played for the ACC title. 8/8/2006 11:38:53 PM |

Reggie Ball is a fucking roulette wheel. If that weren't the case, they would be a top 16 contender this year.
Athletic mobile QB with best reciever in the NCAAs + stout D = top 16 contender.
Except that he's a random spin of the wheel. 8/9/2006 10:38:40 AM |

i thought going into last season ball would be the best QB in the acc
i was clearly wrong but i guess it wouldnt complete surprise me if he "finally had his breakout year"
so in that sense i guess i would agree with msb about not being surprised about GT playing for the conference title
but I still think Miami is gonna come out of that division 8/9/2006 10:49:36 AM |

i'm tired of teams getting hyped b/c someone thinks a player wil have a "breakout year." We waited around for Charlie Whitehurst & Clemson to "breakout" for 4 years. Now CU is getting hype cause its the 25th anniversary of their national championship. 8/9/2006 12:11:40 PM |

GT will miss PJ Daniels a ton...they are not really loaded at RB.
GT is like us...they can beat the great teams (Auburn last year) and lose to shitty ones as well. 8/9/2006 2:52:57 PM |

in other news, UNC lost their starting safety for the season to injury recently (not sure if its FS or SS)
they said on the radio "a mediocre football team loses one of its best players"

Kyle Wright (Miami) is the best QB in the ACC
Drew Weatherford (FSU) just has better statistics, but when you put one against the other versus a stout D, Wright takes more sacks and Weatherford throws more INT's...
But in the end, Wright gets the ball down the field much quicker and has one of the strongest and most accurate arms I've ever seen for a dude his size (Guy could probably throw a bullet 50 yards.., lol). Give him some killer receivers/TE's and he could have a 2,800+ yard season.
[Edited on August 9, 2006 at 3:54 PM. Reason : Kyle Wright is good, not great...] 8/9/2006 3:44:33 PM |

Marcus Stone could be up there with Kyle Wright if his accuracy improves ALOT this season. Dude has a pretty strong arm as well, does a decent job of scrambling, and can take a good hit.
Just needs to wait a few seconds longer to observe the field and see where the receiver/TE's are going to be before releasing the ball...
[Edited on August 9, 2006 at 3:48 PM. Reason : Marcus Stone has the potential to throw excellent this season...] 8/9/2006 3:47:41 PM |

he hasnt proven that

^How come?
It's not his fault that the ACC, in general, plays good defense...
And LSU's D is ridiculous
If Miami had a better OL this year, he'll be butter trust me
^ also,
As a freshman QB, only 3 losses with a rebuilding Miami club in 2005 (NC State would die for a performance like that)

in his time at miami he hasnt shown consistently that he is a great quarterback...thats all im saying as far as him not necessarily being the best QB in the league "by far" 8/9/2006 3:52:30 PM |
sm_superstar Veteran 278 Posts user info edit post |
^ Well, I agree to take off the "by far" part
but currently, I do believe he is one of the elite QB in the conferene, that's all I'm saying 8/9/2006 3:53:28 PM |

fair enough
hopefully it will be stone this year 8/9/2006 3:57:04 PM |
sm_superstar Veteran 278 Posts user info edit post |
^ Yeah, I agree
And if he's more consistent with the passing game, he will be, if not better!
We must remember he has a 5-1 record... That's pretty dang good given what he had to work with last year... (weak OL and inexperienced RB's) 8/9/2006 4:00:11 PM |
