filling up the ram yesterday the pump clicked, i always do 1-2 more clicks. i did that on this truck and the excess gas rushed out from under the truck.
is there some sort of overflow or is something else messed up? i havent noticed a loss of gas since then. 8/9/2006 1:51:05 PM |

Did you lookup under the fender and see a overflow tube?
My jeep has a small rubber hose comming from the area where you fill it up for that. 8/9/2006 1:56:48 PM |

i didnt look under since then. it was kinda crazy bc the gas was pourin on the exhaust, (aftermarket exhaust). under the stock setup it wouldnt hit the exhaust though. im pretty sure it's an overflow. 8/9/2006 1:58:57 PM |

my Formula does that when I fill it up too much.... the pump you were using must have let more gas out than usual with the 1-2 clicks... I think just about all cars have an overflow so the gas doesn't spray back out towards you while you are pumping...
my first car did this everytime and it took me a year to figure out that it wasn't a gas leak, but my dumbass kept filling it up too much...

if it was like my pos from last year, the fuel pump wasnt sitting tight against the top of the gas tank (probably from dumbass previous owner possibly jacking the car by the fuel tank) and the grommet that fit around the lines to the pump was missing. bfh + bf screw = tight fuel pump and some rtv silicon and i was good to go.
disclaimer: always be careful when working around a tank of fuel. dont blow yourself up unless your name is jbaz. 8/9/2006 3:19:48 PM |

speaking of gas, one positive thing i've noticed about the higher gas prices is before, when gas was cheap, you only had one shot at rounding out the dollar amount. now you can pump 3 or 4 more dollars after the first click so there is absolutely no hope for somebody who doesn't get an even number at the pump these days. 8/9/2006 10:55:08 PM |
