Im trying to replace the oil gasket because it is leaking but the pan seems to be stuck in the transmission, is there some kind of release or do you have to take the tranmission plate off?

I believe the factory service manual recommends gas and a match to get the gasket out

And by stuck "IN" the transmission you mean what exactly?

gotta take off the inspection plate on the bellhousing, two bolts in the pan behind that
