I own a 1998 2 wheel drive F-150 and I'm about to replace the tires. What are the best brands? and Does the brand matter? and How much should I pay?

oh yeah and
What type of tread?

All seasons should give the best fuel economy and tire wear, but may suffer in the really slippery stuff.

Search through back issues of consumer reports for truck tire tests. They should be very helpful.

tire rack offers consumer/customer reviews as well as a lot of info on wet/dry traction, noise, etc.

michelin ltx are your best choice, but pricey, best balance of ride quality, wear and price are the dunlop radial rover at's, or the bridgestone dueler at's/ht's

you dont need any of those tires on a 2wd.

get some bfg long trail or something like that. hell even that is overkill, look into uniroyal

bfg's wear out fast period, and uniroyals are the loudest worst riding tires known to man

i had some uniroyal tiger paws that were silent on the road

and bfgs that lasted 100k miles

you must be one deaf mother fucker then, as a matter of fact, i just head a set of tiger paws on a truck that woke me up this morning, i think he was probably in apex or cary, cause i was just loud enough to wake me up, not to vibrate the house
