I never said that managers didn't do anything, I just don't think they do anything that can't be done by the team captain or some other less important staff member (warming up/ subbing pitchers, calling for bunts and steals, telling someone to nail the batter)

The only use I see for the manager to come out and kick dirt on the umpire, so someone can get thrown out of the game without it making any difference to the rest of the team.

I mean, in all the baseball I played (little league through freshman year in HS), the coach was actually there to teach you the game, but I assume pro players already know how to play.

But I'm no baseball expert, you tell me what a coach does, and none of this "they do so much important stuff!! you can't put a label on it!!!1"

I'm not saying they aren't important at all, but I can't see how they could have nearly as much importance as the coach of a formation based game like football or basketball.
