The only 100% way of testing your blood type is taking a drop of your blood. The other methods aren't always accurate and they are never same day. To test your blood type they take your blood and combine it with two chemicals. The color gives it away. (at least that's how I've seen it done).
The prickers don't hurt anymore. And they can do it anywhere. On your forearm on the muscle etc where it doesn't hurt.
And you can do it at the ncsu health center on the corner of Cates and Dan Allen. Take you 10 minutes MAX. 8/22/2006 9:12:23 AM |

you could do some brutal self-mutilation. they are bound to give you a blood transplant when you get to the hospital and you can just ask afterwards. 8/22/2006 9:17:12 AM |

But I cant go to the student health center bc im not taking classes this semester (I did all summer, takin a semester off). Anyone know of another place that I could get it done today? 8/22/2006 9:17:29 AM |

Umm ... if this was important, you wouldn't be posting on a public message board and would instead try using Google or a phone book.
That being said, I can think of three options off the top of my head: -Student Health -Urgent Care -Emergency Room
Granted, you'll be wasting a lot of money (and time) because you don't have an appointment, but you'll get the information/results you need. Student Health is my recommendation ... I've had bloodwork done there before and they are nice/friendly. 8/22/2006 9:19:43 AM |

That pint could save a life. Just do it.
It's win/win. 8/22/2006 12:34:06 PM |

Suck it up and donate blood, it's fast and if you think it hurts too much you should be castrated. 8/22/2006 12:37:26 PM |

The reason some people don't give blood isn't always becuase it hurts too much. He may have some sort of disorder, he may be prone to passing out (as I am), he may have an STD. 8/22/2006 1:40:49 PM |

well i didn't say you should be castrated if you don't give blood, only if you're a guy and you think it hurts too much. other reasons are normal...hell, i couldn't give for a year because I went to india. 8/22/2006 4:03:21 PM |

if you've had experiences in the past with donating blood, why don't you just call the places where you donated and ask? 8/23/2006 7:38:15 AM |

If you are at NCSU go to the student health center. I know they do it. They do blood tests all the time and they don't take a pint. They take vials about the size of your pinkie and use super small needles.
I.... hate.... needles.
But these aren't bad. Takes 30 seconds and you might feel woozy but you can't mess taking blood like this up. You sure you weren't thinking about getting an IV? That's usually where the screwups happen. 8/23/2006 8:03:11 AM |
