Quote :
"DEAN: The lead researcher in this field told me, he said, I look at the numbers in the United States, and I see about 23 percent of the population who are pure right-wing authoritarian followers. They‘re not going to change. They‘re going to march over the cliff. The best thing to deal with them—and they‘re growing. And they have tremendous influence on Republican politics. The best thing, the best defense is understanding them, to realize what they‘re doing, how they‘re doing it, and how they operate. Then it can be kept in perspective, then they can be seen for what they are."

Quote :
"OLBERMANN: Give me an example. (INAUDIBLE) in other words, not getting away with it was the—was a result of it too?

DEAN: Take Gordon Liddy and his following whatever Nixon want, even (INAUDIBLE) anything he wants. Salute, yes, sir, let‘s do it.

OLBERMANN: And the story that he has told about you, (INAUDIBLE) and you‘ve told about him, about his saying, I have all this knowledge in my brain that could bring the president of the United States down, tell me to go and stand on a corner, and—what was the rest of it?

DEAN: Tell me where you want me shot. He said, I don‘t want you shooting me in my house, because I‘ve got children. But shoot me on the street corner. That‘s a loyal right-wing authoritarian follower in action, at the extreme.

OLBERMANN: You‘ve been a historian, you‘ve been a part of history, you‘ve been to the (INAUDIBLE) -- one of the central moments of history in the 20th century. What kind of danger—are we facing a legitimate threat to the concept of democracy in this country?

DEAN: I don‘t think we are in a fascist road right now. We are so close to it, though, Keith, that‘s why I wrote the book, because I want people to understand exactly what is going on, and why it‘s going on."

This may have been posted before, but I did a search and couldn't find it.

I would not include GrumpyGOP and a few others in this group of 23 percenters.

Or it could just be scare tactics so that he can bad mouth conservatives and sell copies of his book.

I wonder why he didn't mention the hordes of followers of the left-wing agenda. Oh, that would hurt his argument.

The problem with liberals and the Democratic party is that they have too many leaders and not enough followers.

If the soapbox was a floor it would be fucking spotless. You know, because of all the sweeping generalizations.

I like how you used commets from Howard Dean to prove this ridiculous point. He's only dug your party full of anti-war lemmings deeper into the ground.

^^^ You could base an entire forum on the topic of how easy that premise is to sell to people.

someone like 4 months ago told me that wars are only done to influence the world economy or something

something like the US is getting involved in all this shit to have an excuse to spend money on, and then when the wars over we are stronger as a nation

idk something along those lines...the main jist of what the person told me was that wars are fought to influence the world economies or something

The word "fascist" gets thrown around way to often. "Corporate Fascism" and "Islamo-Fascism" are 2 terms that should never have been invented.

its that natural authoritarian nature to obey and serve.

According to the Mises Institute, BOTH parties advocate elements of fascism. That includes FDR, who's National Recovery Administration was based upon Mussolini's corporatives in Italy, or state-supervised trade associations.
"Italy was one of the places that Franklin Roosevelt looked to for ideas in 1933. Roosevelt's National Recovery Act (NRA) attempted to cartelize the American economy just as Mussolini had cartelized Italy's. Under the NRA Roosevelt established industry-wide boards with the power to set and enforce prices, wages, and other terms of employment, production, and distribution for all companies in an industry. Through the Agricultural Adjustment Act the government exercised similar control over farmers."
