so i've been trying to download torrents recently and my wireless connection keeps dropping and i have to reset the router.

i guess i'd like to try to update the firmware. the netgear page for this particular model (CG814WG) says to check the provider's website for software upgrades, but i haven't been able to find anything on time warner's website.

does anyone have this router or any info about it or the firmware?

Try power-cycling your boot bus, too. It could be a case of the router's RAMDACs getting corrupted by dirty voltage.

look ma, a comedian!

i seriously doubt youre going to be able to update the firmware yourself, maybe you can take it into a service center or something.

another option might be to look through the interface, and see if theres a way to make the device a modem only, and disable the router functionality. then hook up a wireless router which im sure will work better for you. or just take the device in and trade it out for a modem, and hook up a wireless router. i assume, like most, that you're paying something extra per month for it anyway, save some money and provide your own router.
