seriously, how come Bunting's name doesnt pop up in all the regular "Coaches on the Hot Seat" polls? is it because everyone just accepts UNC as a bad football team and dont expect anything more?
sure the guy is dedicated and has recruited fairly well, but UNC hasnt won a bowl game in forever.
if UNC has another losing season this year, will they fire him?
its something to ponder...

they play a great schedule
i dont know why the haven't axed him yet, but i don't really care. i hope they keep his fatass around. unc could be pretty damn good again if they went coach shopping and picked up a bigtime guy (which we all know they have the money and recognition to do so). 8/30/2006 11:53:21 AM |

Probably because he didn't greet the fanbase by saying we're going to win national championships and ACC championships.. expectations are different.
** and because he runs train on his rivals pretty much.. if Amato consistently beat UNC no one would want him fired

its the media bias
its a bunch of unc journalists who put amato on the hotseat
bunting's only bragging rights since he has been at carolina was beating state the last 2 years
dont believe the hype 8/30/2006 12:03:02 PM |

I don't buy that. It doesn't make sense. All it does is promote State nationally. Who do you think is more nationally recognized? Chuck Amato or John Bunting?
I live in California and whenever I tell someone I goto NC State they mention Amato.. I don't think that people would mention Bunting if I said UNC.. obviously.
[Edited on August 30, 2006 at 12:05 PM. Reason : lower expectations and beating your rival is why he isn't on the hotseat.. period.] 8/30/2006 12:05:09 PM |

so basically in the eyes of UNC, Bunting is the guy who runs the other athletic activity that plays its games before basketball season.
he's like the babysitter of tarholes 8/30/2006 12:09:47 PM |

as long as Roy does good, no one really cares about FB at UNC...he can be just alright.....with us, both FB and BB sucks, so give Lowe about 2 years and he will be on the hot seat when our recruits are worse than Les brought in..... 8/30/2006 12:44:51 PM |

Sounds like UNC's new QB needs a geography lesson:
Quote : | ""Very frustrating," said Dailey, who finished finished 24-for-36 with two interceptions and a touchdown. "Guys pay a lot of money for me to be here, my scholarship costs just as much as everyone's else's, and I feel like I have a duty to fulfill and to earn that scholarship.
"And I feel like I let down the state of Carolina as well as the program, and I'm going to do everything that I can to fix those problems."" |
State of Carolina as in literally, the state? or as in the the actual state of the current situation?

I don't want Bunting to get fired--they might hire someone that could actually coach.

We got lucky after 03 when Bunting wasn't canned, because Meyer and Spurrier would have least listened to UNC, Meyer moreso than Spurrier. If either of htose two were in year three at Chapel Hill, UNC would be much better. Having Bunting at UNC for 5 seasons has been great for us for all but two games, and those two games are what our coach is judged on 9/3/2006 5:16:32 PM |

Bunting hasn't been canned yet because like Chuck, he can also pull a big win out of his ass when he needs to, ala Miami, and UVA (I forget what they were ranked that year), and of course us recently. 9/5/2006 2:36:21 PM |

if UNC football gets one good win a season...whether it be Miami or even poor old NC State...just one thing to brighten the sports outlook before basketball season, Bunting stays
hopefully this year the Duke lacross incident will be the bright spot before basketball season and we can whoop the tarholes 9/5/2006 2:40:43 PM |

bwahahahaha. no idea why Meyer would take that job and I doubt Spurrier would have either. When he was at Duke, he absolutely hated UNC. And he still votes for Duke in the preseason poll, so do you really think he would coach there?9/5/2006 4:58:45 PM |
