aahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahah

long season State fans.

Stone got worse if you can even believe it. He is gonna be more hated than Jay Davis by November.

on a side note, Andre Brown is probably one of the best HB's in ACC history. He looks like a first round pick to me... too bad our QB is garbage.

Offense:
Stone = WORSE than last year
Brown = solid as expected
Baker = solid except for the fumble
Eugene = looked good there at the end
OL = looked ok, but the way Marcus was panicing you'd think he was getting blitzed every pass
WR/TE = can't tell just yet, but the few receptions looked ok

Defense:
DL = looked solid, great penetration and decent run stop(except when he cut to the outside)
LB = looked decent, Davis got burned on one play that would have been a TD if not over-thrown, but other than that they did ok
CB = Davis went down early, hopefully not serious, Sutton got beat on that one play, but other than that a good performance
S = solid, Morgan was EVERYWHERE, and Heath recovered a fumble and Scott got a key INT

Special Teams:
Deraney = kicking looked solid, good placement on punts
Blackman = one good return, some decent returns, and one muffed kick, as long as he just gets rid of the muffs we'll be solid there

seems like no matter what goes wrong, people have something to bitch about.. we could win 52-0 and everyone would remember the fumble on the punt and bitch..

we won.. gg NCSU

You can't really judge Stone by one measly game where he had how many attempts? not too many I guarantee... Going into the game, EVERYONE knew that we would just run, run, run, run, run, run. He could (but not likely) get on fire against ACC foes and then we'd have 50 "Praise Stone" threads.

He was mediocre at best. Our entire offense looked like shit, with the exception of Andre Brown who realized that he was going to be able to beat everyone on a Division IAA team around a corner with ease.

Our offense is going to be atrocious yet again. Awesome.

Quote :

Oh, you can judge him plenty. He played like shit. I have certain expectations that lead me to believe a Division IA quarterback with talented wide receivers should actually be able to throw on a Division IAA secondary. Maybe I'm delusional though!

Fine. I'll judge him by his 5 awful games last year and his awful games his freshman year.

He threw for 44 yards against a 1-AA team.

That is the most ridiculous stat I've ever heard.

There is a realistic possibility that Andre Brown could rush for more yards than Marcus Stone throws for.

Think about that for a second.

I would also like to add that probably about 90% of those yards were yards after the catch.

The hype of Marcus Stone "Deep Threat" seems to have given way to the old Jay Davis playbook.

Ahaha...sad, but true

It'll be even worse if it happens becuase he's going to be splitting carries with 2 other talented running backs.

First of all, ~50% is not a good completion percentage.... (which is what he straddled all year last year)

Secondly, he would have been more like 7 for 20 if he had thrown away a lot of balls instead of just doing the old tuck & run that he has basically patented.

Thirdly, he was barely 3 yards per pass attempt. That is DISASTROUS.

Fourthly, we couldnt MOVE THE BALL against a 1-AA defense.

Fifthly, we are in for a REALLY long season.

Sixthly, I have never even heard of a QB throwing for 44 yards. Particularly, when at least 50% (maybe more) of those yards were after the catch...

I haven't seen someone throw for 44 yards since 1988 when I played my sister in '10 yard fight' on the Original NES.

so our QB has a bad game against a terrible team, it's not like he's god awful, just give him a chance...

last time I checked, he's 6-1 as a starter.

how in the fuck is this going to make anything better by heckling our own team?
like last year when a ton of people BOOed chuck when he came up on the jumbotron
did that make us improve or make the team feel like we were behind them?

true fans applaud their team
i get pissed too when we do stupid shit or have 5 turnovers in a game and i think "god damn *insert players name* sucks ass" but im not about to boo them or join in chants telling them how bad they suck. that only makes things worse

Yes, he is. But only because he's been here longer & would be better suited to coming in on the fly..

Burke, however, has way more upside, but little work with the offense. A switch to Burke would require a weeks practice working with the first string offense.

And the Blackmon "muff" on the punt was not his fault at all. It hit the other guy who got in his way.

P.S. What happened with the suppossed Chris Wright chant?

" N.C. State 23, Appalachian State 10

Associated Press
Posted: 60 minutes ago

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Andre Brown ran for 125 yards and a touchdown Saturday to lead North Carolina State past Division I-AA national champion Appalachian State 23-10 in the season opener for both teams.

Toney Baker added 43 yards and a score for the Wolfpack, which improved to 6-1 in openers under coach Chuck Amato. Marcus Stone also found Darrell Blackman for a 14-yard score, while the defense showed plenty of life after losing three NFL first-round draft picks in the spring - including top overall selection Mario Williams.

That unit held Appalachian State to 133 total yards - including minus-5 in the third quarter when the game hung in the balance - while forcing two turnovers and finishing with four sacks.

Kevin Richardson ran for a score for the Mountaineers, who fought much of the way but couldn't overcome a series of costly mistakes and remained winless in six tries against the Wolfpack.

Not that the N.C. State offense looked much better. Stone went 7-for-13 for 36 yards and a touchdown while the offense finished with 242 total yards. The only spark came from Brown and Baker, a double-back attack that Amato figures to rely on heavily in 2006.

Brown had a spectacular 43-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, ending it when he leapt from about the 5-yard line and dove for the right pylon from behind a pair of blockers for a 9-0 lead. Baker added a 9-yard score that made it 23-10 late in the third quarter, helping the Wolfpack take firm control of the contest as the second half wore on.

The last time the Mountaineers took the field, they walked off with a 21-16 title-clinching win against Northern Iowa that provided the crowning glory on what was already a brilliant legacy for longtime coach Jerry Moore. It is the only NCAA football championship for a North Carolina-based program.

They had several chances in this one, though their first offensive possession turned out to foreshadow their offensive struggles to come. After being whistled for a false start, a shotgun snap sailed over the head of quarterback Trey Elder and rolled into the end zone for a safety.

The Mountaineers pulled to 9-7 with a 1-yard run from Richardson, keyed by a 39-yard catch from Dexter Jackson, late in the first quarter. But a defensive-holding penalty on third down extended a 10-play, 80-yard drive that ended with Blackman's score to take the momentum right back.

The costliest mistake came after the Mountaineers returned a fumble deep inside Wolfpack territory in the second quarter. Facing a third-and-goal from the 5, Elder rolled to his right and had T.J. Courman open on the right side. But instead of lobbing the ball to the receiver, he tried to zip it past Miguel Scott, who jumped to make an interception at the 3 and end the scoring threat.

Finally, the Mountaineers committed a pair of personal-foul penalties on the drive that ended with Baker's TD with 5:14 left in the third quarter."

They make it sound so much better than it was, and no mention of our FOUR turnovers.

Look, I could pretend our quarterback situation is all sunshine and roses like you are, but then people would think I was insane.

There's also a difference between pessimism and realism, and on this topic I'm a shitton closer to the latter than the former.
