I finished my 3 rotations with the CoOp office already, why did they "volunteer" me for this?

I thought I cut my cord to that place already

I really don't want to write this fucking paper and sign up for the postwork meeting. I wonder if I can get out of the program. I never use the gym while I'm at home and that seems to be about the only benefit.

Well see the thing that surprises me is that I am "out" of the CoOp program. I finished my 3 rotations already.

Why are they still bothering me?

I was actually somehow "volunteered" for that same shit and I never did anythign for it. Both people i was suppose to mentor sent me initial e-mails ....I never responded....then one of the two continued to send me updates and how his schedule was going....and yet i never responded and he finally quit then that was it

g'luck!

I thought it was co-op only people too, but it's just some crap for E101. I guess they get co-ops because they need a resume reviewed.

Even though you fill out a form for your resume through the co-op...

[Edited on September 4, 2006 at 2:37 PM. Reason : i think you guys are talking about two different things, there's co-op mentoring and e101 mentoring]

We're talking about this...

Quote :
"Beginning Fall 2005 the College of Engineering and the Cooperative
Education Program will require engineering Co-op participants to serve
as mentors to incoming first year engineering students...."

That was from my co-op advisor from last year. There was another sent out about two weeks ago.

well either way

"successful" co-op students are considered "proactive and experienced" and therefore "better" candidates to "mentor" and serve as "role models" for incoming "naive, confused, and unfocused" freshmen

^funny, I always bull shitted on my reports and I mentioned several times that I thought I was wasting my time with their BS.....hardly consider myself the ideal candidate for them

I am certain if I had any advice to give, it would be to stay away from the CoOp program if you can.

I am no longer a CoOp so why BS me even more....but either way once I graduate no more CoOp crap.

I'm in the middle of a Co-Op right now...I'm going to continue the job, but the coop office is complete bullshit. What would be the detriment of me just cutting all ties to the office, besides an INC or a U or some shit?

not much for you. the real advantage is to engineers who desire to persue their PE and completing the program allows them to spend a year less in industry before they can take the PE exam.
