I really dig the cluster. Very simplistic and functional. 9/4/2006 11:29:34 AM |

I'd think that they can go faster than that, I've done 150 in a Volvo S60 R on the autobahn. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/Ahmete/Germany%20New%20Years%2005-06/100_1929.jpg Ahmet 9/4/2006 1:01:43 PM |

R model is supposed to come from the factory limited to 148mph via fuel cutoff. From what I have come across, for many the fuel cutoff doesn't really happen until 156mph or greater. This can be bypassed, but nobody I know has done it b/c almost all of these cars are still under warranty.
FYI, your pick is probaby of a T5 or T5 AWD, but not an R model.

That's not the interior of the S60R (in the link you posted), but an older version (850), or a non-R version of the S60.

I'm pretty sure it was an S60R (the car was def. an S60 high pres. turbo). This would be a late 90s model, not the current S60. Either way gents, 150, or 160 is nothing. A lot of 20 year old cars can do that and more, stock. I've had my 850 turbos (150+) my 944 turbos (170+) here in the U.S. I've even been 170+ w/people from this board between the lake wheeler and the Gorman exits on 40. Used to do it several times a month. The picture showing the 540i @150+ was in 5th gear, topping around closer to 155, then pulled to an indicated 165 in 6th before I backed off (but the car was still pulling quite nicely) and that was on 264. This was a bone stock 1997 BMW. A new S60R w/a chip should pass 170, gearing permitting. Top speeds are nothing impressive (especially below 190 or so), it's power vs. drag.
Volvos, and especially R cars are cool and all, but this ain't why. My opinion ofcourse. Ahmet 9/5/2006 3:09:10 AM |
