^^^As would fewer TV and radio time outs, but hey, let's reduce the actual game time.

the game already feels longer because all we do is run the ball

and only 5% of the time does that cause something exciting to happen

being bored makes it feel longer

because i know we're not going to get ten yards

and then the defense is up

This rule will not make a big deal. Not that much. If anything I feel the game of college fb becoming more like nfl with regards to officiating.

this rule makes an ENORMOUS deal

you saw last night immediately one of the biggest effects. You get the ball back late in the game and you essentially have one less timeout since the clock starts on change of possession

yeah, i tend to bitch about things, but i cant think of one positive of this new rule. its fucking horrible in every aspect

the only negative i see is that the game isnt that much shorter due to the amount of tv timeouts. We are getting the same amount of TV, just more commercials

Yeah, it would seem that the real goal of the new rule was to create more time for advertising revenue.

This new clock thing is just FUCKING RETARDED. The person(s) who came up with this should be fucking fired.

And tonight illustrates the worst thing of this rule, and it doesn't even affect the outcome of the game.

ND won tonight without having to snap the ball, the game ended on a change of possesion. It just feels "wrong", there should be a snap to end the game. Sure there was no change in how the game would have ended up but it just feels better

I can't wait to see the first coach to take a lead and false start for the entire remainder of the game, he'd make my hero list.

the heck they don't allow that. there's nothing the refs could do to stop it, either.

clock stops after first down and starts when ball is spotted = fine, ok, whatever

clock starts after change of possession = stupid

Yes, there is. Refs have the ability to stop the clock on a penalty for anything they deem to be "outside the spirit of the game" (I think thats the actual wording in the rule book). They can call a penalty with a loss of down and a clock stop if they feel it is warranted. Its an extreme but they most definitely have that ability.

they need to start stopping the clock after every play until the ball is marked ready for play no matter what. run...stop the clock..spot the ball....start the clock.

im sick and tired of seeing hold wrs down after a play, unpile slow off the line and do little shit to wasted extra seconds. that shouldnt be part of the game.

I thought it was funny how the clock would continue to run, even after Wake Forest had a delay of game penalty. So they could have theoretically taken five delay of game penalties in a row and ran the clock that way without any apparent penalty.

But yeah, something needs to be done about it.
