So, I managed to leave my lights on over night and of course the battery was dead when I was going to go out today. I am stuck with calling AAA to come jump my car off, they then tested the battery to make sure all is well. After testing the battery he said I had a weak/unstable alternator and it would cost $$$ to get this thing fixed. Now, the car cranks without a problem and I havent seen any indicator lights or dim/flashing lights while driving down the road. I dont have the money to get this thing replaced unless there is a chance that my car just stops while driving down 440. Can I hold off on this repair or is this something that needs fixed asap?? 9/9/2006 5:17:25 PM |

^If the voltage spike that you generate when you pull the terminal doesn't kill your ECM first... 9/10/2006 4:26:54 AM |

only if you dont take long trips. cause last time i done this, my alternator finally shitted the bed at 2am in virginia. even with AAA on the way it still meant me and this girl i been dating had to sit in a freezing weather in the car with no heat on the sid of i-40 for three hours with no music or light. and the tow came right at 97 miles, barely under triple A's 100 mile limit. needless to say te homegirl was not very happy about it.
get a voltmeter and double check to make sure AAA aint bullshitting you, and if it's about to go you might wanna go ahead and replace it, save yourself a tow down the road.9/10/2006 10:54:53 AM |
