if it's not built in, there's a program you can use called 4t tray minimizer.

just click the X at the top... it doesn't actually close the program... just like any other version of AIM.

I found a neat program that lets you minimize anything to tray.. I was going to buy it but the webpage was down. I'll post the name if I find it.

close the buddy list, it should minimize to the tray on its on. else, check the preferences.
