some bitch in a new camry tried to pull into my lane while i was still in it this morning. there was someone on the other side of me and right behind me so i didn't really have anywhere to go. i pulled to the right as far as i could and floored it, but she still barely clipped my bumper.
my bumper is in such bad shape anyway that it actually didn't bother me, but it did manage to put a long red streak down her silver front fender. she got nervous as hell after that and wouldn't pull up beside me. i figured fucking up her paint was enough punishment, so i just kept on to work. i checked out my car once i got here and you can barely see where she scuffed the bumper.
goddamn. pay attention people! 9/11/2006 9:15:44 AM |

yeah, i don't know about getting a new one, but i could have probably gotten it repainted; and maybe a new trim piece. but unless i was going to repaint the whole car, which i'm not, it would be pointless.
hopefully this will give me some good karma. 9/11/2006 9:51:54 AM |

You could have gotten $500 for a new bumper and pocketed the money.
Now you might get a 'hit and run' charge if she calls the cops and lies about what happened.

the bumper wasn't damaged, just a very small scuff, so i seriously doubt i would have been able to get a new one. i'm not the kind of asshole who is going to try to squeeze every last cent out of someone just because i can. if she were to try to lie about it, it would be her word against mine and the evidence on the car will support what really happened. i'm not worried about it. 9/11/2006 10:38:23 AM |

i got rear ended in my slowica, my rear bumper was shitty and they damaged their car a lot more than mine (lil scuff) i let them go even though they stopped bc i didnt really care to go through the hassle. 9/11/2006 11:03:39 AM |

I've let people go who rear ended me as well. I met a guy who got rear ended and later picked up a charge for leaving the scene of an accident even though he had no fault in the accident. I'd rather take care of things at the scene than have to worry about what kind of story someone might make up after the fact.
And I don't see how the evidence would support your claim. All it's going to show is that y'all rubbed. It has no idea who was changing lanes at the time. Like you said...It's your word against hers.

i've had some poor ass fools living in a minivan back into me once. cracked the paint on my bumper. a cop was right there and on the scene in 20seconds. the guy got busted for not having a license, no registration, etc, etc. so i was like well, youre pretty fucked buddy, i guess i'll let this slide. 9/11/2006 1:27:50 PM |

you're not squeezing money out of the individual unless they don't have insurance, which in that case, I would just let it go...but typically, their insurance is paying for it and I personally have no problem at all squeezing as much money as possible out of them, they don't mind doing it to me every 6-months! 9/11/2006 2:45:37 PM |

^ You're assuming she isn't going to file an insurance claim to fix her own car. Pretty big assumption on a newer car. 9/11/2006 2:55:35 PM |

wow, i didn't really know you could get in trouble for letting someone go who hit you, even if it's their fault. i guess i'll be more mindful of that next time it happens. even if we had pulled over, i wouldn't have gotten insurance involved unless she really wanted to. i can remember my father slightly rear-ending someone before, and they just asked for a hundred bucks and called it a day. if she had hit any sheet metal on my car i probably would have been furious, but as it was after seeing the terrified look on her face i almost felt bad for her. 9/11/2006 2:58:08 PM |

yeah exactly, she will probably file a claim anyway. also, if she is as bad of a driver as it appears, she probably isn't getting any insurance reductions right now anyway, so another $500 claim isn't going to affect her bill. most of the time it takes around a $2000 claim to make your insurance go up unless you were given a citation. One of my friends backed into my car when it was parked in his driveway and after calling Statefarm we found out that his insurance would pay the $1200 estimate to fix my car without increasing his premium. 9/11/2006 3:38:37 PM |

she will file a claim only if she is single OR her husband finds out. otherwise she will be too ashamed. 9/11/2006 9:02:08 PM |

In the meantime if you see a Camry with a big red stripe on the fender steer clear. 9/11/2006 9:43:30 PM |
