Audi Q7 V12 TDI
500 hp 738 lb-ft from a 6 litre V12 TT diesel
All the fancy details at http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/country/gcf/newsID/2060911.001/audi/audi-q7-v12-tdi-revealed
But this is all you need to know:
Quote : | "Audi today unveiled the Q7 V12 TDI with an engine similar to the one featured in R10 Le Mans racing car. It produces 500 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque (1000 Nm). The crossover is capable of hitting 62 mph in 5.5 seconds, with a limited top speed of 155 mph. Maximum torque is available from just 1,750 rpm. The engine features the world's first 2,000 bar Bosch Common Rail system. Up to 2,000 bar of pressure is kept within the twelve piezo injectors – a further technological breakthrough. Unlike other Audi V-engines, this model features a special cylinder angle of 60 degrees. The twin-turbo V12 TDI conforms to the Euro 5 emissions class which should come into force in 2010. Fuel consumption is 20 mpg (11.9 liters per 100 kilometres). " |
GODDAMN, talk about sheer unusable excess... just like the Cayenne Turbo, ML 63 AMG, Touareg W12, and Grand Cherokee SRT-8. But, at the same time, there is something about this one that makes it seem less reckless and less useless. Maybe it is all the technology, and the fact that it is a diesel, and can get 20 mpg. Don't know....

another great thing about german cars, especially their SUV's. you don't see all the 'shit' hanging down under the car...like axels, exhaust pipes, muflers, fuel tanks etc....like you do with any american car

you could probably chip it up and get a little better w/ more boost (on diesels you don't need more fuel to run more boost)9/11/2006 6:09:24 PM |

price not announced yet, but my guess is it will be right around $100k if it comes to the US. in Germany, prices are usually the same number amount as in the US, but in Euros. so there, it would be about 100k Euros.9/11/2006 6:14:40 PM |

Well, the most powerful production diesel passenger vehicle in the US is:
(it was released by vw about 3 years ago, but just now put on sale in the US)
2006 VW Touareg V10 TDI Launched
Quote : | "The 2006 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI® – the first turbo-diesel light-duty vehicle in the U.S. market with a particulate filter – is now available in showrooms. The Touareg V10 TDI is a high-performance, ten-cylinder diesel version of Volkswagen’s popular luxury SUV. With an engine that takes ultra low-sulfur fuel, it meets the stricter emission requirements in all 50 states. A particulate filter further reduces emissions, making this Touareg one of the cleanest diesels ever.
The Touareg’s powerful five-liter, ten-cylinder engine boasts 310 horsepower at 3,750 revolutions per minute and offers impressive pulling power with 553 lbs-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm. The diesel engine consumes up to 30 percent less fuel than traditional gasoline engines.
The Touareg V10 TDI is available starting at $67,750. " |
