Vick DOMINATED.

Rivers didnt dominate, but every throw he made was quality. If you get a lead and protect it, thats a good game.


Vick also DOMINATED an elite defense while Philip just handed the ball off against a shit defense.

Philip will show what he can do in the coming weeks though dont worry. He is a better QB than Brees will ever dream of being. He's not Eli Manning or Carson Palmer but he is a solid QB.

And Vick will once again carry his team.

All the while guys like Bledsoe with big arms and big stats will kill their teams.

This pretty much sums it up. Rivers didn't have a good game in anything, except handing off the ball. That being said, his team did do well, and they won, and thats all that matters. If you are honestly gonna get on here and try and talk shit about how he had a good game, you need to get over yourself. Everyone in the fucking game thread was mad/making fun of how he just handed the ball of to LT the entire game.

To be fair to Vick, Sapp would never have caught him. He would have gotten away and either run it 5-10 yards or threw it towards crumpler, hoping he could get up to catch it as it soared over his head.

If you want to compare Rivers to someone, how bout Roethlisberger?

Big Ben was in the same position the last two seasons. Let your awesome RBs run the ball, let the defense dominate, and throw the ball only when you truly have to do so. Ben had plenty of games with fewer than 20 attempts, but he did his job. Rivers did his job too.

Give his ability, I believe that Rivers (like Ben) will step up to the plate and deliver when the run game stalls or when they're behind. Tonight was not one of those games.

vick had roughly 6.5 yards per attempt while rivers had roughly 10 yards per attempt. that's huge.

i actually thought last nite was the perfect situation for philip.

no need to throw him to the wolves in his first game. they played to their strengths, and when philip was called on, he made good decisions, and good passes.

as the season goes on, i think you'll see him passing more, but if your ground game is dominating, why would you?

obviously with it being rivers' first nfl start on mnf at that, marty didn't want to put too too much pressure on him, thats why he did not attempt many pass plays..he did the smart thing..philip will begin to throw more and more as the year progress..that being said, i thought he played a hell of a game...did you see the one swing pass to LT...it was one of the best i've seen in a while...he threw it the perfect distance over his head and LT caught it in stride...textbook.

The point of this thread is that some of you guys bash Vick every game because he doesn't throw for 300 yards.

But he leads an offense that dominates the ground game and wins ball games. He didn't account for a single turnover, which is essentially worth an extra ~100 yards passing. And he does this despite not having a lot of other weapons on his team.


Now Philip goes out and leads an efficient offense that is littered with talent (McCardell, Gates, and Tomlinson) and does a lot less than Vick did last week and yet still everyone thinks he played a very good game.

I just dont understand why its okay for Philip to throw for 110 yards but its not okay for Vick to throw for 140 and rush for 50.

Both of them looked good and both of them got easy wins. Why can't you just give the man his due?

Because it's Phil's first start and he's not the top weapon on the team. I.E. the team doesn't put all their eggs in the Rivers basket.

Give him half a season at least before you can really compare to other QBs.
