RALEIGH -- Pat Hill wants N.C. State coach Chuck Amato to put up or shut up.

"Why don't we play a game?" Fresno State's coach said on Tuesday night. "Just tell him instead of talking -- if they want to talk about us, then let's play. Play us in Boise. See if they want to do that because if they have dates available, say we're available to play.

"Just to let 'em know so they won't have any excuses, we won't have any [non-qualifiers], we don't have any junior-college transfers and our APR is very, very good.

"So if they want to play against a school that doesn't have all those advantages like they think we do, they oughta want to play."

Amato baffled Hill -- and Boise State and Louisville -- when he included their programs in a discussion on Monday about non-qualifiers.

The more this gets media attention, the higher likelihood it will be used as a reason when Amato is canned at the end of the season. Amato shouldn't have said it, and he was acting like a little kid who didn't get what he wanted and decides to put down others to make himself feel better. However, one idiot making one inflammatory statement is the only press NCSU will get this week, and that sucks for all of us.

I just read that article and Amato is full of shit. He has taken partials and non qualifiers before if I'm not mistaken--I remember discussions about this a couple of years ago when Bunting was calling us out for it.

^^^He took partials when there was such thing as a partial qualifier (now players either qualify or do not), but never more than 1 per year (per ACC rules). Richard Washington was the best example.

We have never enrolled a non-qualifier (it is not allowed by the ACC), unless you count Tramain Hall, who easily had the SAT/GPA but didn't take some quirky Florida exit exam before enrolling.

If you complained about taking marginal qualifiers, or plenty of his commits not qualifying, then you would have a point.

Fuck that. I don't want to play Fresno. Hill has a real good program over there and it's a no-win situation for us. Beat them and we're supposed to beat a non-BCS team; lose and we should never lose to a non-BCS team.

OMG. He called out Louisville? Are you freaking kidding me. The Big East passed a rule that doesn't allow them to accept non-qual's anymore, before this season (the only teams that actually had non-qual's on them were UL, WVU, and USF -- but I believe there were like 1 or 2 at max and none of the starters). Further, Fresno doesn't even HAVE any non-qual's. Maybe Chuck should have called out the entire SEC since they do allow non-qual's last I heard (Dallas Baker anyone).

I didn't mind the original quote I saw about Akron as much, but this is just ludacris to pull other programs into it when he doesn't even know the fact. He deserves everything he gets from the media on this one...
