I currently have a nit picky, subjective professor when it comes to grammer and structure, and I need an english major to proofread a 3-page, double spaced paper. I will pay $15 for your time.

Yes, use the Undergraduate Writing and Speaking Tutorial Center. As a student, their services are completely and totally free. They will not correct it for you, but work with you in order to improve the paper. They'll even go over a paper that has been marked by your professor and attempt to help you understand some of the errors that have been marked. I use to work for them when I was a student and they have some great people working for them.

Private editorial services by people with their qualifications could very easily cost you $15+ per page and you wouldn't learn anything.

How about spelling?

I'm pretty sure the writing tutorial place won't help you with grammar and the like.

When is it due?

Qualify that statement / prove it is true. I honestly don't know much about it because I've never been. I'm curios if they actually are helpful or not (or if that satement was just made out of pure opinion).

Another option is to talk with your professor/TA during an appointment to try to help you out.

I love grammar and spelling, if you need help. You can email me the paper, and I'll proof it, and then I can meet up with you on campus to go over it and pay. Get back with me through pm.

Your experience with the Writing and Speaking Tutorial Center will just depend on tutor that you work with. When I worked there, the tutors were trained to focus on higher order concerns like content and organization before dealing with lower order concerns like spelling and grammar. If you want to work on something specific like grammar or documentation, you need to let the tutor know up front because that's probably not going to be the main focus unless there are some really glaring issues that inhibit the reader. But in my experience, a tutor will happily help you with grammar as long as you ask. Just don't walk in and ask a tutor to 'fix your paper' because they are not an editorial service, they're going to expect you to participate in the session and hopefully learn something from it.

Trust me, I have spent an hour or more with certain students working on grammar alone while working as a Writing and Speaking tutor.

OK, here:

Yes, BUT... We will gladly help visitors become better editors and proofreaders of their own texts. We will not, however, edit or proofread papers."

They would probably help you if you want to improve your own grammar skills. I was just saying you can't hand them your paper and say "Fix it."
