anything new on the ps3, i want to get a 360, I have heard of problems sony is having with getting the numbers of pS3 to US.

Will the ps3 be worth the wait. I just cant find any new news or spec comparisons, any input?

ps3 will play hd-dvd.....the hd dvd player in best buy was $999......so i assume it will be worth it if you can get one.....I am waiting for ps3 over 360.......

wrong...the PS3 will play blu-ray which is high definition but is not HDDVD (thats toshiba)

If you are looking for a "hackable" system, look away from the PS3. If a friend buys a PS3 game that you want to play on your system, Sony forces YOU to pay a connection/used game fee before it will work on your system.

I have no idea how this will work with rented games though.

The $60 price tag for games has only partially to do with hacking. The real reason is that Microsoft and Sony compete for the largest ePeen in their hardware as a way to say who is better regardless of what their games do. This makes games are more difficult to develop, hence increasing the production time and cost among other things. This is the real reason behind increased game cost. Illegal games are more of a scapegoat than anything.

I wonder how much a typical blue-ray disc cost I just read a h/w comparison between 360 and ps3 and i was kinda not feeling good about ps3 having 256MB GDDR3 (700MHz) as opposed to the 512MB RAM in 360. Other than playing blue-ray discs with resolution upto 1080p and motion sensors in the controllers, what advantages does ps3 have over 360?

FYI, overstock.com has a 15% coupon right now and for the next day or two. XBOX 360 premium system comes to about $338 plus a couple bucks for shipping.

(you have to add a .99 cent pen first to get the coupon to work w/ the xbox system)

The CD was almost all Phillips and based on it's LaserDisc format, Sony somehow got their name on the collaboration with minimal contribution.

But it was probably the closest Sony ever got to doing something right in the media world. Their insistence on trying to push proprietary formats has caused them to fail over and over again a la BetaMax, and MiniDisc. A lot of people, myself included, won't buy Sony products that use removable storage because they eschew universal compactflash and SD, and want to force memory stick on the consumers.

BluRay is more of the same.

I would not be surprised if it was something Sony was planning then pulled out of due to consumer reaction. It would be humorous if that would push its launch or online program back even further.

On a separate note, anyone else remember when the 360 kiosks took entire stores offline? That was cool.
