Amato is having a press conference at 2pm today to discuss any personel changes and the status of Blackman. Does anyone know of a site on the net to listen live to the press conference?

"Marcus will start the game vs Boston College because of his leadership and experience in conference play. This is an ACC game, you people. We have to go with experience in this one. Daniel has worked his fanny off and looked mighty good against Southern Miss but he will be used in a backup role on Saturday evening at Carter Finley. You people need to get out to the Walk of Champions and support this group of youngsters. They've worked hard all summer and this is an ACC game, the start of a new season. But yes, Marcus will continue to be the starting QB unless something happens between this minute and Saturday evening."

^^nor played one

even at 1-2 we are 0-0 ACC which gives me some shred of hope

^well UVA sucks pretty bad and Maryland doesnt look great...we should definitely have a CHANCE to beat Wake and UNC...and for whatever reason we tend to play well against FSU

and thankfully we dont have to play Miami or VT this year

Based on the article in the technician. Chuck still wasn't sure what happened, so I would think it wasn't something crazy blatent, so I'd say not. But normally isn't there an NCAA rule about when a player is ejected they can not play in the next game?

I hope it ain't true.

I think he would be our biggest loss. And Blackman is my favorite NCSU player.

I'm pretty sure it is always reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Usually the conference takes the lead, but the ACC will generally defer to the team/school to take action rather than officially sanction the player themself.

No, I was saying he should be.

Chuck needs to enforce some discipline or risk losing even more control.

"Wolfpack Turns To Evans At Quarterback

POSTED: 4:10 pm EDT September 18, 2006
RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina State's slow start has prompted coach Chuck Amato to make a change at quarterback -- and defend the direction of his program.

Amato said Daniel Evans will start against No. 20 Boston College on Saturday, elevating the reserve past Marcus Stone as the Wolfpack tries to overcome a 1-2 start. Evans came on in relief of Stone during the weekend's 37-17 loss at Southern Mississippi and threw for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Amato said it wasn't clear whether Stone would still see time against the Eagles.

"We'll have to wait and see," Amato said Monday. "I don't want Daniel to go in there and to be looking over his shoulder.

"The job's his. We're going to do everything in our power and Marcus is going to do everything in his power to help him succeed."

The Wolfpack have lost two straight games after beating Appalachian State, the defending Division I-AA national champion, to open the season. N.C. State lost to Akron 20-17 at home when the Zips scored a touchdown on the final play, then followed that with the lopsided road loss to the Golden Eagles.

Stone, a redshirt junior who replaced Jay Davis in the final six games last year, had thrown for 345 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions on the year. He had completed just 48.5 percent of his passes this year, starting with a 36-yard outing against the Mountaineers. He bounced back with 209 yards and two scores against Akron, and was 10-for-24 for 100 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions against Southern Miss.

Evans went 8-for-11 and had an interception in relief of Stone in that game.

Amato also defended his program, deflecting questions about the slow start by pointing out the Wolfpack's five bowl appearances in six seasons. He also refused to answer a question about whether he believed his job was in jeopardy.

"A successful season is to have a winning record and go to a bowl," he said. "Everything over and above that is gravy.""

congrats to the coaches for making this decision to mix things up and give evans a shot.

Lets get off their back, and try to support all the athletes. They could use someone cheering for them right now.

Besides, we are no better than UNCSUCKS fans if all we do is complain and moan the whole time. No matter how bad of a season, if you are a fan, stick it out and keep going to the games and cheer for the team instead of booing them.

The performance of the team will speak for itself at the end of the season, and at that point we can call for change if that is what is truely needed. Until then, lets not be fair weather fans!!

we're definitely in the national spotlight, just not in the way we had hoped. he did what he said though, lol.

i'm encouraged by the decision to start evans. i think most of us could tell we weren't going to go anywhere with stone, so maybe we still have a shot at 6 wins w/evans.
