Looking for some recommendations for a good set for myself. My dad has the cobra SSi clubs and I use them everytime I play. I love them and am good with them. I was looking for a set similar to those. Cobra has a new line, the FP series which I am leaning towards, there is a demo day at knights play and im going to try them out on Wednesday.

What are some other comparable sets to that? I don’t know much about other brands. Ive seen this brand “adams golf” or something. Clubs are decently priced but I know nothing about them.

Gimme some sets to go demo out. I think my price range is about $700 or so for a set (irons, woods, putter)

golf clubs are about personal preference....everyone i know likes different shit unless you have the exact same preferences, swing speed, etc. Just go look for a set that you think you like, hit them, and buy if you like.

there are like eleventy billion types so you shouldnt limit yourself to one brand cause someone else has that kind.

I would consider Ping G5's. They are coming out with the Rapture line now and the G5's should be priced fairly agressively.

The G5 line is staying at the same price point. The Rapture irons are just going to be more expensive. We have the driver at the store now and it is absolutely sick.

doesnt sound like he's ready for blades, thats for sure.

stick to a cavity back till you break 77 consistantly, or itll hurt your game.

more info on these adams golf clubs.

i am just curious about them.

tomorrow is the demo day for the cobra line. ill be testing them out to see if i like them

yeah, im in no way the next niger woods.

i can drive the ball and my iron shots arent bad. like most people, my putting game is lousy.

i play knights play a lot. havnt broke in the 20s yet. hit like 34-35 with putting being a bit problem.

im going to make a set of clubs called the Hyman MicroB series.

where you can beat the shit out of your surroundings and the clubs will not break at all.

First question is, can you break 100. If not, it really doesnt matter what clubs you use right now as long as they arent from K-Mart.

Well the best way then to find out, which will be time consuming and somewhat difficult, but worth it in the long run, and is what I did/do over the years, is to just try out as many clubs as you can. There is nothing better than trying out as many set of irons to see what best fits you. I am a member at a great course in Atlanta, and I don't listen to a fucking thing our pro has to say, he gets paid to push certain clubs. So 99% of the time, I don't want the clubs that they have and can fit me for, except putters. I usually make friends around the course, and ask to hit a few shots at the range with what they have and see what happens. If you arent a member of a course or whatever, it can work anywhere. The local driving range, public course, whatever, just see what people are playing with and give them a try. Unless they are absolute dicks, they aren't gonna mind you taking a few swings with their irons if you are nice to them also. The worst thing to do is waste a lot of money on a set of clubs that someone thinks you need or whatever. Whenever I get a new set, I usually spend atleast a month testing out clubs before I settle on something.

^ good point.

i goto the range above the street from my house a lot.

they have a variety of different models, but only have one iron (max 2) per set.

mainly a 6 or 7. which should be good.

went to the range today.

demo'd the
Cobra F speed
Nike SQ tour
Nike SQ
taylormade R7

all stiff shaft all 9degree (both nikes were 9.5)

i love cobra clubs, and the cobra was by far the easiest to hit.

but i got the hang of the SQ tour and man what a club.. i probably hit (from what i could see from the mats) like 10-15 yards further than the Fspeed...

the R7 i just didnt get a good feel for it.

not sure if im gonna stick with the Fspeed because i am consistent with it, or just go with the SQ tour and have to learn it.

i think my final set is gonna be:
Cobra FP Irons 5-GW
Cobra 4/R baffler (DWS)
either Fspeed or SQ tour driver.

ill rig up some putter to get also.

i picked up this sand wedge at walmart(like 2 months ago). man, its not half bad.

but knightsplay has a few wedges for half off, and some for $50.

i might pick one up if they have some.

i am not picky about 60 degree wedges, and ill buy a relatively cheap one - i play a zevo 60, it's fine. I am not picky about equipment in general - had the same shit for almost 10 years and don't have a prob with it.

If you spend $texas on anything, the driver will give you the most cost/benefit IMO. Also, get a putter you feel comfy with - money shouldn't be an issue with a putter - you use it the most of any club and it's 50-70% cheaper than most decent drivers.

oh, and if you have above a 10 hdcp, (hell or below it for that matter), id recommend a 7 wood in lieu of a 2 iron, i made this switch earlier this year - highly recommended.

yeah, carolina custom golf has a nice variety of used putters that look and feel good.
my GF picked up a odyssey white hot for $25 and she likes it a lot.

i may just stil with driver,3,5 wood for now. gonna use the baffler to compensate for 3 and 4 irons.

my dad has a cobra 9 wood, damn thing is tiny
