Considering most user don't even use, much less know the features of MS office, Openoffice does extremely well. There hasn't been any significant improvement to office since '97. To the comment about OOo doesn't even do a tenth of Office, is just bullshit. Everytime I use Microsoft office, I have to go thru every menu to find out how to do something to discover it doesn't support it, such as export to PDF.
Take your crashing Office if you must, but there are always better alternative (and cheaper!) to MS monopoly. 9/21/2006 8:30:20 AM |

what are you talking about? you just need Adobe Acrobat to export MS Office docs to PDF. am i missing something here? i do this everyday at work. Obviously you can't do that with just the free Acrobat Reader. 9/21/2006 9:00:19 AM |

Both Adobe products suck.
I use PDFCreator to print files to pdf. I also use Foxit PDF reader, which consumes much less resources than the memory hog Adobe Reader. 9/21/2006 11:49:45 AM |

i got plenty of resources to spare so i could care less . just making a point that using not being able to print to PDF in MS Office as an arguement is pertty dumb. 9/21/2006 11:56:47 AM |

^^^^ You're a god damned moron. There have been so many improvements it Office since '97 that it's too much to list. Everyday I find something that Openoffice won't do that MS Office will. And, in most cases, if Openoffice will do it, the same task will be much easier in MS Office. Also, outside of the Open Office word processor, the programs are barely functional as opposed to competitive with their MS Office counterparts. Openoffice try to make a competitive product. I'll give them that. Plus, the price is right. However, Openoffice still has a long way to go before it can call itself in the same league with MS Office.
