in the back of the coursepack, there is a list of the structures starting with amino acids.
learn those including 2,4-dinitroflurobenzene through pyridoxal (8 or so).

use those tests too

she puts 2 or 3 structures on the first page, you have to choose one according to the last digit of your Student ID number.. you must memorize all 8

Oh, Question 2 will be an Amino Acid linkage.. make sure you draw all bonds and put in ALL Hydrogens, nothing is assumed

If i remember correctly, ? 3 is a math problem and the rest is just random shit she puts together.

Know what at buffer is.. or a puffer as she says

old tests = all you need

no reason why you shouldn't make at least an A- in her class w/ old tests.. if you do make less than that then you fucked yourself

yeah i have it tommorow as well.. looking at some of the old tests it does seem like most of the stuff is somewhat repetitive. Hope it remains the same for this test.. way too much to memorize

there are only 28 structures to memorize for ths test exam
20 of which you only really have to memorize the side chain (R)
-7 of those you have to memorize the pKa of the side chains

its not too much, plus your gonna have to know it all for the next exam, and the next, and the next.
btw, her idea of a dry erase board really works.

28?? there are the 20 amino acids, but there are a lot more than 8 others in KKW for common organic structures...are there only some that we need to know...or dont we need to know all 36...pg 20-23?????

Memorize from the start of the list down to pyroxidal. By the way, Knopp's Knotes has a mnemoic aid section for the amino acids on page 32 if you're still having trouble with them.

yea i wish it was that easy...i have been looking at the old tests and the structures that you are asked to draw on question 1 come out of the 30 chem structures in KKW on pg 21-23 and are not on that list of 8 in the course pack

I TA'ed this class for two semesters. My best advice is to know everything that she goes over, and especially follow the handouts she gave at the start of the course. You can ask her for copies of previous tests, I believe, and practice on those. Practice, practice, practice.... flash cards can help too.

Good luck

Like people have said, there really aren't too many. Just give yourself enough time to practice them.

If you do that, the structures are one of the easiest parts of the tests.

Haha, I was "done" with the exam about 20 minutes into it. I really don't want to get this one back.
