lots of headlights you can bake in an oven and pull apart. just don't melt them.

be sure it's the inside that needs cleaning before you go to all that trouble

if it's the yellowish discoloration then that's probably oxidation on the outside and all you need is wetsanding like mentioned before and some plastic polish.....but search jetta forums for better responses

thanks for all the input. it's funny, one side is in excellent condition and the other is horrible.

here's the low down as I just worked on my wife's lincoln ls. Many headlights can be baked in the oven like someone said earlier, to soften the adhesive. Bake at 250 degrees for 13-15 minutes then carefully pull apart. Usually this is done to remove the amber corner lense as most of the time nastiness on the lense is on the outside. If you have light problems just use meguiars plastx polish. For severe problem wetsand w/ 600, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit sand paper. Then polish w/ turtle wax polishing compound then w/ plastx. It'll look nasty white while sanding but clear after polishing.

you can bake them for sure.. remove the grille, take off the bumper... headlights come out easy. remove the 4 clips and bake at 200 for about 3 minutes.. they should pull right apart.
