the way I see it, there's only one way to solve this problem:

go back to the great old way of doing ticket distribution. force people to get off their asses in order to get a physical ticket, not some print out. assign a seat and put a hologram on the ticket. with technology getting more advanced, there's no reason why you couldn't reproduce another ticket on hard stock paper and sit in a lower section.

i just wish there were a way I could communicate my feelings to the student senate...

I was here for 2 years with the old system.


The crowds were MUCH MUCH MUCH better imo in every way possible. The people there wanted to watch a football game, not socialize. The student sections were always full, because you didnt have people going to campus or getting out of bed to get tickets who didnt fucking want them. Now people just apply for tickets and dont even fucking use them. That penalty system doesnt work.


I knew this system was stupid when they put it in. We were having the same discussion last year and they've done nothing to fix the problem. Its a piece of shit system and something must be done.

Thats about the best thing you can do. The thing with having an actual seat is you can't see the freaking numbers on the seat. You have to guestimate where you might be and usually if you're trying to sit with 5 or 6 people chances are someone is taking up one of those seats cause they've already guessed at where their seat might be.

They did this at Kansas basketball games, and it worked well for the most part...everyone stood, but not on the bleachers.

When we beat FSU 17-7, in 2002 I think it was, we rushed the field anyway. If 20,000 students want to rush the field then 100 cops aint going to stop it.

We did get pepper sprayed though when we tried to get the goal posts out the stadium

The students just have to have the balls to rush the field as a whole..........

If you think the ticketing system is to blame, you're wrong.

Simple solutions....

Overcrowding: enforce seating assignments stricter. Make an example out a group of people who are obviously taking advantage of paper tickets. Keep on making an example out of people until they get the point and go to the seats they were initially assigned.

Vomiting/urination: that's the student body's fault. Make an example out of the next twenty dumbasses who think this is OK.

I agree with Prufrock in that the campus police has completely pussed out in this situation... thank God we don't have a serious crime problem at NCSU, because the fucking police would be pointing fingers. What is their job again??

I guess you could get mad at the police. The problem is that the police know that everyone is drunk but are refusing to play ball, instead saying that "well since these kids are drunk, we are free from taking care of them".

I still beleive though that if everyone was sitting in their assigned sections the police, as bad as they can be in these situations, wouldn't have to take such radical measures.

They do this in C. Hell too. And this is at least the 10th time i have posted regarding this matter. For an engineering school, it's the dumbest fucking thing known to man that we stand on the bleachers. I can't really figure out how I managed to not tear up a knee or an ankle jumping around after big plays/wins.

There are multiple ways the overcrowding problem could be fixed without reverting back to the old system. The easiest in my opinion is what the artice talked about. They should stamp you when you come in based on what section youre ticket is in as they scan youre ticket. Another viable option would be to have scanners at the student sections as well so they can make sure its a valid ticket before letting you in. Also, getting in off someone elses ticket should be abolished. The ticket you have should have to have your name on it. I know people could still cheat the system but at least they would have to take the time to change the name on photoshop. It would cut down on cheating the system a lot I think.

this could all be solved if they just tweaked the system the slightest bit:

don't do print-from-home tickets. just have the same online ticketing system, but you have to claim them in person at the reynolds office. this way, it would be MUCH harder to fake a ticket.

this probably won't get implemented though, because it will cost more than $0.

it still would be more accessible. you can pick up your tickets game day for all that matters. one still wouldn't have to wait for tickets during class time and they wouldn't have to wait at reynolds multiple times. just once. and if they wanted to be really crazy, they could offer to pick up more than once. they could still implement the penalty system if you claim the tickest and then don't pick them up from reynolds.
